SOLD *** 2002 CDN Specs Proteg5
I know this as already been discussed, but I went to a tire dealer to find out the truth about 195-50-16 tires

Dunlop makes 3 models : FM901, W10 and SP5000 (no M?)
Toyo makes 1 model : T1S
Seems no one else makes them.

You can also pick Yokohama's Avid H4 in 205-45-60, but it's .5in smaller in diameter.

Tire dealer told me tire companies will adjust with time, and the demand will grow, so we'll eventually have more choices.

This dealer in Granby, Quebec had 4 SP5000 in stock, if you're interested...

yeah...i think the sport5000s are being phazed out so those are going to disappear...but there's supposed to be a close replacement...that sux...oh well i guess when i need new tires i'll need new wheels too...lol

Its only logical that more tire companies will start making tires for us. We will be selling alot of P5 and it will be a big market for our tires, It would be stupid if a company did not jump on the band wagon.

I don't know if you guys are aware but tirerack.com has the following tires in 195/50/16

Dunlop SP Sport 9000, FM901
Goodyear Eagle F1 GS
Kumho ECSTA Supra 712
Goodyear Eagle RS-A
BFGoodrich Radial T/A

I am sure that you could get any dealer to order these tires for you.

Or you could jump up a little to a 205-50R16 like I did and have a lot more choices. The extra meat looks good and give a little better ride plus the slightly larger diameter helps cheat the odometer a little...

Thanks for the tip Neuromancer.

I was quoted $129CDN each for the FM901 (Granby, Quebec), looks like a good choice to me. Does anyone know if Kumho tires are sold in Canada?

Yeah Goodyear has a knack for making odd sizes for original equipment, I see it every day. Guess who owns Dunlop.

I don,t know about the other tires on Tire Rack's list, but do not even consider the B.F.G. It is only an S-rated tire. You have to make sure you check speed ratings on tires. DO NOT drop speed ratings unless you want your P5 to handle like your mamas Taurus. By the way, the P5's have V-rated tires.

Also I, d consider going to a slightly bigger size, like 205/50R16. This size is much more common and you can get a better tire like a Bridgestone SO-3 or a Michelin or B.F.G.
