Tire Recommendations: Yokohama H4s or Falken 512

I need to buy new tires and I am almost sure I will get the Yokohama Avid H4S for my Protege5 with the following specs: 205/45/R16

Anyone have these tires or the Falken Zeix 512's? I saw consumer reports loved the Falkens but i read online that they would only last 30K miles. I want something to last longer.

Tireplus tells me the warranty is 60K miles for the Yokohama's but the pdf on Yokohama's website states 40-45 series do not have the warranty. These would not be warrantied right?

Any other suggestions for tires? It has to be all season and does not need to be V rated, I am fine with an S or T rating if I can still drive corners fast like the stock Dunlops I have now.

The Falkens do wear quickly....Check out our rim/tire/suspension forum and try searching around. We talk tires alot.

I have been VERY satisfied with 'em!

Good wear, excellent wet and dry adhesion!

Quantum leap over stock Dunlops...

Ive used the 512s on almost everything ive owned and got better wear out of them then several other tires ive tried. The Yoks are great tires too though.
As for tire warranty, its a joke. They can say you hit a pothole, didnt keep them inflated properly or any number of reasons. All im saying is, dont let warranty be a deciding factor, tires are one of the hardest things to get warrantied.

I had the 512's on my Nissan, I hated them, poor grip, bad rain traction, squishy sidewalls (50series). As for wear I really can't say, only had the car for a year.

512's good

I can only say about the 512's, but I like them alot. Cheap and VERY good in dry and wet for daily driving. I have the 205/50-15 H-rated on my LX. I'd say they perform at 90% of my old Toyo Proxes 4's in both wet and dry. Ran them in 12" of snow last Friday/Sat storm with the bumper snowplowing, and they didn't make me nervous at all. It was straight and stable at 40mph. Good stopping on the fluffy & sticky snow. Slow and steady launches from a stop got us going (the Proxes 4's we would have been left stranded). And at 5000rpm they got us up hill into the driveway and out of the unplowed street. So for daily A/S for the price I'm very pleased. They also have a much stiffer sidewall then the Proxes. So far I haven't had to increase psi to compensate during fast corners.

Only about 1000 miles cold weather miles on them so far, but I got 40K out of the Proxes 4's with a couple autox weekends so these should last a while. I drive about 23K miles a year with 80% straight highway and 20% around town, no decent curves in Chicago except the ramps, so your mileage may vary. :)
