Thanks Raider. I've got Yokohama Parada Spec-2 205/45/16 on right now. I love the cornering and traction with these but the sidewall on the 45 series Paradas is so freakin' small. Potholes and rough freeways are starting to get on my nerves. I would like another set of Yoko's but they're a little spendy for me right now.

I agree! I am running 205/45/16 on stock rims with 3 Toyo Proxes FZ4 and a Toyo Proxes4 since they discontinued the FZ4 line and I blew a tire (boom07) . Anyway, the car handles great with the lower profile tires, but I hate uneven roads and potholes. With the reduced sidewall, it shakes and rattles and they are getting on my nerve too! But I;m stuck with the 45 profile for another 30-50k for sure since I just got a pretty new one and will be replacing the rest this summer.

I'm also considering replacing my tires with the bigger 205/50/16. However, my biggest concern is with the suspension. Will this size tire work with a stock suspension without any clearence problems or rubbing? I need answers ASAP, preferably tonight.

I had 205-50-16 Yokohama AVS ES 100's on my stock rims. Loved the ride, almost no change in speedo. handling improved, but bald tires are better than POS stock Dunflops.

Get them, you will not regret the upgrade. They will also fit the rim with no problems or rubbing.

Look up a few posts. Your question was answered already. Yes, wil fit, and no, no rubbing.

Just a heads up

Toyo Tire makes a 195/50/16 and has a 100,000km life expectancy.
Toyo Proxes are great tire and I'm sure there used in the gt race series as the sponsor. They have a $50 mail in rebate if you buy a set of 4 here in Canada.

I'm in the market for tires also and I think that's what I'm going with.

Just so you know if how to read a tire because your asking about going with a 205/45/16.
205 is the measurement in width, 45 means 45% of that 205 width. So what I'm saying is the smaller the second number of the tire size the lower the profile of the tire.
Lets face it protege 5's have a sporty suspension from the factory and ride ruff on ruff roads. If you put a lower profile tire on, it will increase the handling but make the ride ruffer. I'm sure that will help lead to changing your sway bar end links that are notorious for wearing faster.

Good luck I recomend a 205/50/16 and risk the small change in the Speedo.

If you still need the 195/50/16 I have 2 sitting in the back of my P5. They have about 80% tread left and I just want to get rid of them. PM if you want them.
