does the msp have a knock sensor with self adjusting timing? If it does then it would make sence to run a water/meth kit to make the car run cooler and make more timming advance and if its self adjusting it will be safe for when u run out of fluid cuz it would just reard timing untill it is safe.

Can anybody shed some light?

99.5% sure it doesnt work that way.

most people who want to do something similar to what you're suggesting buy a J&S safeguard. be warned, its not cheap, but it is effective.

well im just wondering if the protege has the knock sensor cuz if it does thats how it works thats why the car runs better with 93 octane because of the higher octane u get higher resistance to pre ignition and cuz of that the timing gets advanced if u run lower it retards if the car runs this system always remember tho u dont go faster on octane alone

you definitely do go faster on octane alone. put a tank of 110 in and tell me it didnt make a difference.

yes, your ECU will retard or advance timing based on your octane, but if it was as easy as just installing a meth pump, more people would do it.
though to be fair - most people are changing fuel tables when adding meth... if you werent using a tune, id be interested to see what happened. you could just get advanced timing (still piss poor AFRs though) or it could make no difference... the ECU may only advance timing so far. i wish i knew the answer, but hopefully someone will chime in.

the only way you can usually go faster in higher octane is because your pcm can advance some timing now our msp has a set advanced range so u can run meth inj but to get the most power u need to get a timing controller now as far as a tank of 110 i wont be doing that its not cost effective. One thing about street cars is cost effective is king. so for me im actually gonna take my big fmic off and go to a smic to take away some turbo lag im not running much boost anyways but i will run meth injection later. Octane is good so dont run 87 in our car but if u run 110 and i run 93 and we have the same mods u wont have enough extra power to win the race without a dout just a tad of wheel spin by u and none by me will usually make me win
