Time for a new block, 30PSI + stock short block = hole, Anybody get super duper deals

that gt30r has got to be good for 30psi

It is quite capable, but on the MS6 it can only do it between 5500 and 8000 RPM staying on the map. I'm assuming this was not the RPM he was running at. Launch at 4000 RPM and it could have been behind (to the left of) the surge line between 4000 and 5500 RPM.

he said he hit 30PSI @ around 6000 in first gear.

it would be great if the MZR DISI could take the 30PSI tunned.

Maybe it can...it will be interesting to see what he finds when he pulls the engine.

I suspect it was an out of cycle combustion as a result of running too much boost on the wrong turbo and without tuning.

The picture of all the Aluminum chunks is pretty priceless.

Just wondering, shouldnt the wastegate or something like that have opened up to not allow that much boost? Or with the cut out did it just spike so fast that the wastegate couldnt compensate?

Did the XEDE allow your turbo to overboost?

I have limited turbo knowlege and just wanted to know.

Good luck with the next motor!

Hmm, still cannot really tell from the pictures what failed. Is the block itself toast? Or did all the bits end up in the pan? Hrad to really see much from those pics.

To the guy asking about forged internals - the Speed6 engine already comes with forged internals from the factory.

It has forged rods - but not pistons.

When you are forging a new path like this sometimes these things happen. Sorry that it had to be you 4DRHTRD, but glad that we are all getting some info on the limitations of the MS6s engine. At least now we know one bad combination.

you dont need to upgrade the turbo to go fast, just like the msp. You just need more boost and more tune and more exhaust and the list goes on.

The turbo on the DISI, is already at it's limit, 2-3lbs and ur blowing hot air..........

on the side note, how can u say that, when on ur sign, u upgraded the turbo in ur MSP?

Sorry to hear this 4DRHTRD but I have no doubt that this car will be back, stronger than before.(bowdown) keep us posted bud....

I keep hearing this - but to my knowledge no one has actually disassembled the turbo to check the trims. Most manufacturers don't just use stock off the shelf turbos, they have the company produce special versions to fit their cars (you can do that when you buy 100000 at a time). Everyone says the stock turbo is maxxed at 16 psi. But in reality it is really pushing about 19 psi stock because the stock intercooler has a 2-3psi pressure drop across the core. I doubt Mazda would have the turbo out of it's efficiency range right from the get go. Just a thought.

I can't put an official FS thread but my turbo is going to be sold to finance the 3076R. PM me if you're interested.
