I was rich enough for 22 PSI with cutout closed. When I opened the cutout the free flowing exhaust allowed the turbo to boost to 28-30 PSI. I hit 30 PSI around 6K RPM or so.

Car was not tuned well enough yet and on 91 octane would never support 30 PSI. I was headed to install my alky/water injection kit when it hapenned.

As far as tuning I was waiting to take out the XEDE when the new CP-E piggyback was going to arrive.
 
bad to hear about this man. good luck with the next motor! im guessin this motor whether tuned or not isn't gonna like anything over 25psi...reminds me of a 4g63...mmmmm
 
It was a bad experience, but admit it, you're having some high quality problems :) 30 psi (crazy)

There are not that many cars out there that can take that...
 
You know I definatly want you to get the car back up and strong, BUT if for some reason throwing the woman the ol sausage doesn't work and she makes you part things out......I'd be interested in that intercooler.(thumb)

NOT SMART. I came up to a light (1 block from my friends house) and there was a motorcycle, the light turns green, I drop the hammer in 1st and BOOM, smoke, oil light comes on etc. Looked at boost gauge - 30 PSI.
There's chunks of motor all over the cool drip pan.
I've gotten a price from $2728 so far + tax and shipping. I've got room on some cards and some cash, haven't told the wifey yet so depending on how much trouble I'm in I may have to sell the turbo kit, custom IC, etc. I already have an XEDE for sale.
Depending on timeline I should have a new motor (shortblock) installed within 2 weeks.

Wish me luck and let me know if you can get me a super duper deal on a short block, I'll buy one this Friday.
A salvage complete motor will work for that price too, if you can find one!!!

That sucks.

30 psi in first gear on that turbo? That would put you wayyyyyyy off the efficiency islands, I'm kinda surprised you were able to load it that much in first gear (dangers of AWD). What RPM did you drop the clutch at? Anyway, probably just shot a bunch of hot air into the engine, and BOOM.

Did you smoke the tires at all (DSC off?) If not maybe DSC (TCS, whatever) helped load the engine by applying the brakes at a very inconvenient time. (Just a guess)
 
I'm ignorant towards the new MZR DISI engines. Are there forged internals yet? If so, I assume you're dropping those in?
