Finally got my manifold installed. Here is a pic since you don't see many of them on here of the Thunder manifold. I ported it out nicely to match up with the new gasket and than had the guys at Turn In Concepts install it. Replaced the el cheapo couplers that came with original hard pipes too. Its dirty under there but its nice to have her run better than new again.

nice! i want a thunder so bad! was it a real noticable difference when you put it on? my next step is to get one of those and a down pipe to complete my exhaust.
so your from cinci huh? my girlfreind lives in cinci so im there all the time, but i dont recall seeing any other laser blue MSP's besides mine recently.

Looks good. Ive been thinking about getting one. How much did they charge you for the install?

DSM:

I notice a big difference but than again i have not driven the car for almost 6 months. I am very pleased, looks better than stock and half the weight of the stock one. Spools good. Very pleased.
I live in Mt. lookout here in Cincy and see a few Blues around. But not very often. Maybe its yours that i see?

BadBandar:
Mazda deal was going to charge something crazy like 600 bucks just for install. They installed at half that price (300) plus cost of antifreeze. I had them replace the couplers so they obliged with some 4 ply vibrant couplers and nicer worm clamps. So that was an added charge not related to the install of the manifold.

Mine cracked two times already but I like it you do feel a difference. Why did'nt you install it your self it's not that hard but does take like 1 hour.

I live in an apartment and with the -6 deg weather lately and lack of space to work on it I did not want to mess with it. I have to get a storage unit to work on my rx-7 so I will have space soon but did not want to wait. Plus i was helping the economy :)

forgot to ask what version you have? did your v2 crack twice?

None of the V2s have cracked, and none of the repaired/upgraded V1's have, either...at least none that I know of.

Are the manifolds on PG the v2? Is there a write up on how to install it? I want to do it but i dont want to remove the turbo.

Unfortunately, the turbo has to come out with the manifold. Well.. it doesn't HAVE to, but it'd be pretty damn difficult to remove just the manifold. Turbo uninstall isn't really that bad.

The coolant lines come off pretty easy, as do the oil lines. Then all you gotta do is undo the three bolts between the S and J pipe, and the bolts that hold the manifold to the block.

Some take off the radiator to give a little more clearance when removing from studs and to save the radiator from possible damage if bumped.

I had changed the waste gate, coupler, clamps and finally became to darn cold outside to attempt this one, if it takes one guy an hour it takes me 1.5 -2 hours in the cold maybe worse. I usually end up drinking a beer or two and it becomes a recreational event.

+1 always plan for more time then needed! Relax and take your time.

Hmm... i think ill give this a shot. So the amount that comes out will be manageable. I wont need to refill anything? Im a noob at this and i want to get enough info before i give it a go.
