Thoughts on the 2019 CX-5 Seats

Mazda CX 5 Touring
I recently had a surprising experience. I won't bore anyone with the back story but due to no fault of my own I had to turn my 2019 into a body shop. My insurance supplied me with a rental that turned out to be a Mitsubishi SUV. I didn't care for much about it but the seats were very comfortable. It made me wish my seats were a little wider for my butt and the bolsters weren't quite as high. The rental drove like a drunken sailor but I think it had a bigger gas tank that I wish mine had. The rental gave me a new perspective on my CX-5 and appreciate it more. Oh and the body shop did a great job!

I don't know about the 2019, but the seats in my wife's 2023 are pathetic. Not enough bolstering, flat as a board and the bottom is too short to offer decent thigh support. Makes me appreciate the seats in my 2018 3, which don't suffer from any of those shortcomings!

The leatherette seats in my '22 are comfortable to begin with, but once past about 8 hours of driving on a long road trip my legs start to cramp up. Fortunately, road trips of this length do not take place often. The standard cloth seats in my 2012 Mazda3 held up better on the long trips.

I've had a 2016.0 GT and now a 2021 Sig. The 2016 seats were bolstered more aggressively than the 2021 but that's the only difference I noted. Seat comfort is highly individual, so all opinions/comments have to be consumed in moderation. The thing I've noticed is that when I drive short distances around town the CX-5 seats are not impressive. But if I drive long distances (300-500 miles/day is not unusual for me out West) the seats and driving position are just about perfect and I rarely sense "driver fatigue." Seems odd, but that's my experience.
