as for the question, a rotary engine is an internal combustion engine that was designed by Felix Wankel and adopted pretty much only by mazda, who now owns the sole rights to the motor. Instead of using the traditional piston engine/rod/crankshaft layout, you have a set of rotors that are turned on an "eccentric shaft" in an oval pattern. There are no valves, no camshafts, no rods, no head, etc. The result is a smaller and smoother revving engine that supposedly creates more horsepower per liter than a traditional piston engine.

LOL.. No, I know what a rotary is.. It's just a big joke with me and my fiance. I drive a 3 and he's got the RX-8. He put that in my signature on the Revolution Motorsports forum too.

He did a big class presentation about Felix Wankel for his marketing supply chain class a few years back, so I probably know more than I ever will need to!
