Thinking it's time to move on...

yeah...i would surely go with the fit instead of the 2...saw some picture of it and hummm...Vtec ftw. A little sportier also.

My vote is to keep it as well. I have entertained many thoughts of getting a new car but I just can't justify it to myself. Nearly bought a 06 Eclipse GT.

So the p5 is now almost 8 years old. Hard to believe. At 39,000 miles, the paint is still shiny and looks new. Just a couple door dings, a couple rust spots under the front doors and under the hood. It's running fine, and treats me nicely.

The question is... do I move on?

I'm thinking this myself. My 02 has about the same miles (around 60000ish kms). I've a few little issues I need to take care of so something fresh would be nice, but I dont like the idea of more car payments. Especially when I have a low click and good looking car in the driveway.

That is the direction I am going...Ol' Blue has 115K on the clock and starting to show it. That and my left knee is telling me that 25+yrs of driving a clutch is taking its toll...:flip:
Looking into a 2009 Fit Sport, w/ the 5spd AT. Drove one last wk.(the paddle shift is FUN) With my 70 mile commute (round trip) & gas already + 2.00 gal the Fit's 32-35 mpg on freeway sounds really good--but wish Mazda was bringing the 2 here NOW!!

So I test drove a 2010 3 today. Damn was it nice. I really like the interior. I saw the gunmetal blue for the first time, and I was really hopoing it would be a good color... nah.

I did see it in copper red, and ZOMG was it nice. Silver looks great, too. I saw one parked next to a 2009 silver, and it was a huge difference - darker, and much deeper as well. I actually wouldn't mind owning a silver.

Dammit I really wanted to like one of the blues, though! Celestial looks OK; I could probably get used to it, but... come on, Mazda! Laser Blue!

I vote for you to keep the P5. I've been debating the same thoughts again, but knowing that my P5 is paid off keeps me from trading her in.

As for boosting an automatic, it's not as bad as you think. I've put 20K miles on my auto P5 since boosting and it's holding up quite well actually. A tranny cooler is a must, and you gotta learn to drive a little different (let off the gas a bit between shifts so you're not putting so much stress on the internals).

Just a thought ;)

so 30 something K on it?

dude im at 2005XX miles on it and im only now thinking about calling it a day with the car.

The wife just got a job, so this might be happening after all.

At the same time, I might wait a year and see if Mazda comes out with a better blue. Then she can drive the p5 after her Rav4's lease is up. Too bad she hates the car lol

She don't want to drive no station wagon. Do you blame her? And congrats man on her finding a job. That was quick. pm me the district.

if she is anything like my lovely wife she doesn't want to drive my P5 in fear that she may scratch the car or get a dent in it at work? :P

haha she knows how much I care about the car. but it's more she'd rather have a new car than inherit a 7-year old car.

I'm still waffling on this. I could just as easily keep it, and in a few years, it'll be one of those rare cars at car meets (I wish!).

I hear you about Laser Blue. Mazda has had really bland colors lately. I used to own a Laser Blue P5 and really missed how it stood out after I washed it.

yeah that's the thing - the blue is just too awesome!

The only color that comes close on the new 3's is copper red. Add a tan interior, and you've got a very nice looking car. Just wish it came in a nice blue :(

If my P5 were a manual I would have kept it. Since it was an auto with low miles I got a killer deal towards my MS3! I still miss the P5's sexiness sometimes.

Yeah at this point, I think the only thing that'd make me pick up a new 3 would be a great deal or getting a manual. We'll see, but at this point, I'm thinking of waiting 1-2 more years to see if the paint selection changes...
