Hi All!

I have been lurking around but finally registered today.

I'm looking into getting a Mazda to replace my Honda accord coupe which is awfully small for my family now with a 5 month old daughter.

I am getting a price quote of $22890 + TTL for 2012 Mazda5 GT what do you guys think?

Thanks

For that money I'd get a Honda Accord sedan. But if you really like the Mazda5 or really need to be able to seat six, check out the "prices paid" thread (a sticky thread). Also look in the Sunday newspapers of any large cities near you to see what offeres are being made on Mazda5s.

Robotaz: msrp is $24670 for the GT, $4k off = $20670, let's see what the dealers around here can do.

Heat: I thought of buying a honda accord again but it's time for a change. I might miss the v6 acceleration although I'm driving slow with my daughter in tow now anyways.

I traded in an 04 Accord Coupe LX-SE for my 5; as I needed a four door and as a hedge if we wanted to have a second child (which we did). Unless you need greater range why not a Honda Fit?

Do not waste any more time on this site or the internet at all if you have not test driven a M5 . You might not even like the Mazda, it's very different from a newer Honda. If you think the 5 might not be the right car look elsewhere, theres too many good choices.

Also, you'll find the acceleration woefully short of your V6 Accord.

We don't know what year his Accord coupe is. It could be a 1997 3.0 V6, for which 0-60 is almost 8 sec. Or it could be much newer, in which case the acceleration would be missed.

I'm coming from a 2003 honda accord ex v6. I should test drive the mazda5 but I'm pretty sure I won't miss the acceleration.

I had a 2000 Accord EX V6 with the 200-hp 3.0L and it hauled ass, especially above 4000 rpm.

Our speed limits around here are 35 in the city and 55 on the highway. I have a quick car (350z) and a motorcycle and I never really get to use the power they have. How fast do you want to go in a Mazda 5? Every time I floor my 5 I have to hit the brakes to avoid a ticket or an accident. Why and where do people get to even use all the power many cars have? I drive my 5 conservatively and relatively legal and I never come close to flooring it.

Exactly why I'm ready for a mazda5 :)

Rock on brother! I can't give you an unbiased opinion on the car as the Mazda 5 is the only car I have ever bought twice (09 sport MT/12 sport AT).

As a "Boomer," our motto was: Too much horsepower is never quite enough!

We're going to a huge Bluegrass festival next weekend and taking a bunch of friends with tents, coolers, grills, etc and I'm telling you, this car can transform into the coolest thing on the road when you really use it. I can't wait. I wouldn't trade anything in the world for the 5 when we get to really maximize its capabilities. The BHP? Who cares? You don't want to be jerking a bunch of chilling guests around anyway. Relish the captains chairs all around, the smooth ride, the quiet ride, the space, and rock on!

Available 0-60 times put the older Accord V6 in the under-9-sec range, similar to the 5 with a MT. The gen you had was more like 8 sec, with the best I could find being 7.8 sec. Of course, last millenium, supercars were only pulling 0-60 times in the low 5-sec range, and most recognized fast cars were just over 6-sec. So, compared to the Tahoe or minivan next to you, your 8-sec Accord felt like a rocket, especially since it was only 1.5 sec slower than a Vette.

Finally got my Mazda5

Finally bought my car: 2012 Mazda5 gt liquid silver (looks more like grey to me)

Initially wanted a black or white but went with liquid silver :)

The low hp doesn't bother me at all. Sure it can't rocket into the highway entrance but this is fun to drive.

Beautiful car. THought you got white.

We have the liquid silver on our 2010 Miata. Thus we went with Copper red. Enjoy the car

Thanks for the hi-rez pics vinisterz! I typically detest silver because they're so bland most of the time. This one looks really good! Yeah I agree it's almost a light gray. I haven't seen one in person and might have to reconsider it as an option!

90210, what's your take on the Liquid Silver since you have it on your Miata?
