Thinking about buying a MS3

Titanium MSP
I currently own a MSP. My warranty will be up in the spring. I have close to 40K on it. I was thinking about trading it in on a MS3. What are the common problems with the 3's? I noticed they aren't coming down at all on the prices. Would I be better off waiting until spring to get one? I hate waiting though. Although then I wouldn't have to drive it through winter.

Patience is a virtue. A few threads have popped up regarding the purge valve. I see the engine mount being an issue as usual once people break their car in and get on their cars more. You'll have to wait once people put some mileage in to see what other problems arise.

The 07 lineup just came out and so you won't be getting any deals. You can get 06's with lots of nice rebates, but those are mostly gone by now.

If you wait till spring/summer next year, they will start giving out some nice incentives. However for an 07 MS3, they may be all gone by next spring as their production is limited...

Thanks for the input. The MS3 is an 07 correct? I thought they only made them this one year.

Ordering in January

Don't expect the prices to come down much, if at all. With a limit of 5000 vehicles and all the good press the car is receiving, the Speed3 will be in high demand. I was told that in order to get one for my late March birthday I would have to order in January, which I plan on doing.

Also, if anybody knows of a reputable Mazda tuner in South Florida, please clue me in. I plan on making this vehicle a project road and strip car and would like excellent work at a fair and reasonable price. Thanks for your replies.

I wonder if all these engine light problems may drive people away for awhile, meaning that there will be more available in the fall?

I wouldn't have bought my MS3 if I'd have heard my story about 2 engine lights in about a month. I'm glad I DID buy it, because it's a great little car, but I have so little tolerance for things that don't work (I mean, I'm a Mac guy, PCs infuriate me) that I would have just bought the Honda instead after hearing about all the lights.

I"ve seen plently at mazda dealerships here in texas. I've seen the silver... black & red ( my fav) haven't seen the blue. I've test drove the black MS3 they are freaking awsome.. i love it. If you don't have negative inquility on your ride.. i'd go for it. Its twice as fast and has more room.

So what do these strange lights mean?

A check engine light can be a serious thing or a malfunction of the warning system lights. Have you brought it to the dealer to see what the problem is? I'd hate to see that annoyance on my car too. Please keep the posters and myself abreast of the situation.

just buy one man! I did, and I'm happy as hell.

I traded my 800cc motorcycle in on it, and I think the MS3 has more fun quotient!

Of course I brought it in...I've got two threads on it. It's the purge valve, I guess, Mazda is backordered for the new ones that don't cause problems...they did a 'meanwhile' fix, but the light came on two days ago, and then came off last night. I'm going to warm it up and then accelerate really hard on the way to home this morning..if the light doesn't come back on, I'll call and ask the service dept. wether I still need to bring it in - it's an hour drive and it interupts my sleep today to go (I work 12 hour shifts nights 3x/week as a travel RN).

I say wait. Noone thought the MSP price would drop either. You grabbed yours for $21.5k, I was out the door at $16.5k a few months later.

They started some good deals on the speed6, so they should on the 3 in time. I could be wrong though.

Will the MSP snowies fit it?

That was another question. How does it handle in the snow with the stock tires?
According to Mazdausa.com they are "P215/45R18 "high performance summer tires", so I am guessng they will handle like ass in the snow.

Combine that with tons-o-torque the the front wheels, and I can't imagine it being a nice combo.

Mazda 3 wheels fit a Protege, no? Will the P5 steelies clear the MS3 brakes?

I say wait until after winter.

I probably will. What about a Subaru? They are little more pricey though.

my dealer now has 3 speeds sitting on the lot. 2 have been there for over 2 weeks. 2 Blacks, 1 Red. Weird cuz I told him I'd be there as soon as he got either a silver or blue. I guess they don't want to move them that fast.

You want a Scooby now? Damn man, pick something! lol.

Why do you want to ditch the MSP? It will be paid off soon and I am sure the extra $300ish bucks a month would be nicer in pocket then in an MS3.
