Things to look for: shopping for DH

I've got a couple opportunities to pick up a used Dashhawk and had a couple of questions:

1) Is the unit firmware upgradable? (Meaning..if it's older, would it matter?)

2) The OBDII connection should be universal no matter which car I use it on correct? It wouldn't make a difference if I bought a Dashhawk that was used on a GTO correct?

3) If the CD isn't included, doesn't MSD offer the software online?

It is universal but doesnt read every car. My grandpas 03 Grand Marquise had a CEL and I tried to get it to read it but it wouldnt recognize the car. I believe the DH website has a list of compatible cars.

Firmware has been updated 3 times since I had mine, I dont notice many changes but it is very easy to update. Mine didnt come with a box or documentation (thanks PG) but all of that is online as well.

Also remember to find out if it is a genI or a genII. Get the genII if you can.

Definitely make sure you are getting a genII if you are buying used. GenII had Dashhawk written under the screen. If you don't see that, don't get it...

Yeah I pmed you about that a while ago. He doesn't work for vector motorsports anymore. Rumor is he is working for ADM on the east coast but I'm pretty sure he is just doing his personal business now.

Oh yeah LOL...woops. Sorry, my memory isn't the best sometimes. AFAIK he's just doing his own thing. I know he hasn't moved...he might be doing consulting or working from a home office...I'm not sure on that. He's a brilliant man, though...and does some amazing work.

Yes, Chris is very good at what he does. I met him about 5 years ago at a meet. He is a very cool guy and extremely knowledgeable.
