Thermometer is 5 degrees too low.

My wife has a 2014. Noticed tonight that the thermometer showed 33, when two outdoor thermometers at home showed 38; which makes more sense since the weather forecast shows a predicted low of 36.

Is an inaccurate thermometer just the way it goes, or is it something that can be serviced?

Had you just started your vehicle? Usually it takes about 5 minutes or so for the thermometer to stabilize. Just a thought.

Yes, but it's usually the other way around--it shows too hot because the car has been parked in the sun, or the engine heat is warming up the thermometer. Once you start driving, the temp goes down, not up.

Is it possible your home's thermometer is in the sun, and that one is off?

Keep in mind that the thermometer is located inside the bumper.
Don't know where your "outdoor thermometers" are exposed to the sunlight or in a shade.
As you drive on, the temp display gets more accurate.

unless all your thermometers are calibrated, being within 5F is usually acceptable.

I've found the displayed temp in my CX-9 to be wildly inaccurate most of the time. It will be 90+ outside and showing high 60's in the car.

After driving it outside for a while, if the outside-temp number is still way off, your sensor might be broken.
