Never understood the single rear wheel thing. Okay, it's light like a motorcycle but it's half the rear contact patch of a car and it can't be laid down like a motorcycle so it has worse cornering ability than both?

I saw a few videos about the slingshot this morning and have a few thoughts:

1) It's Polaris, I'm not sure they understand what pavement is.
2) There was a comment about not being off the shelf tires, but infact proprietary Polaris tires, which is no good.
3) That wide ass single tire is asking for problems. Any bit of wet, and the occupants are going ass end into a guard rail. Just because Morgan made it work (and i love the Morgan 3 wheel) doesn't mean it's ideal for everyone. Keep in mind, the Morgan's rear wheel was not a wide slick.
4) It "starts" at $20k. If it really wanted to be competitive, I would think it would need to come in significantly UNDER the Atom 3 and Caterham. Yes, it's way less than the KTM Xbow, but it's a super niche market. Show me something to make me NEED it over the Caterham and Atom.
5) It has too many electronics, ie it's too dumbed down. Hell, the fun of this part of the market is it's raw driving at it's best. I don't want to nail a corner, and feel power cut.
6) I'll wait to see it's reliability before making many more comments. I'm sure R&T, Motortrend and Car & Driver will all test the s*** out of it, and maybe we will finally get a better opinion of it than the vague promo video.

Doesn't Polaris make/own Victory motorcycles? +1 to everything else.

I didn't remember that, but yes they do, as well as Indian. Then again, it's not a motorcycle, and it's not based off a motorcycle.

What else is stupid about that Polaris is it still registers as a motorcycle and a motorcycle license will be required to drive it... If I have to have a motorcycle license I'd rather ride a motorcycle than a three wheeler. I'll keep my msm, even if I haven't driven it since Easter....

I didn't even realize that. Even more reason it's way out of its league. I'd expect maybe 2 model years until they scrap it.

That's it I think. I know everytime Jeff went over 100 and I was on the back of the bike was a little unnerving, and I'm not usually afraid of speed. He HATES riding on the back if I'm driving for the same reason: control. Now that I have my own bike going 100+ while on the back isn't as bad. haha
