The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

I meant for the neon lol

Civic's fluid was a slushie. I added more (room temp) stuff on Monday night to hopefully warm some of it up, but it just went right back to slush over night. Even this morning, it was a little hesitant at times.

What the hell do people in Canada and Alaska do for all these car issues? Or do these issues only arise when a car is kept outside in the cold vs garaged with maybe a lamp for some heat and then driven?

Block heaters, and they never turn the cars off when they go into a store

I'm not sure that would help with some of the stuff, like the power steering? I totally forgot that I tried to use my wipers yesterday while stationary and they almost didn't even work. Going up and down once took like 15 seconds. Unreal.

A coworker grew up in Alaska, said he use to have a special battery and fluids, as well as heaters under the battery, on the radiator and the block. Apparently the license plate is designed to allow you to wrap an electrical cord around it (for those devices). He also said all measures are very common, so if you forget something and get stuck or somthing freezes then its your problem... lol

btw, the pipes for my kitchen sink are frozen... everything in the bathroom is fine.

My furnace can't keep up with this cold, even with half the house closed up. It was 46 degrees in my house Monday and yesterday. I said eff that and went to Tessa's for the night.

I need to get my fire place cleaned and inspected. I would love to use it but I'm scared as it hasn't been touched in years

Thats kind of expensive. You can buy a half a pig from a butcher for relatively cheap. Thats what my parents do. Half a pig half a cow each year. Ends up being cheaper and tastes better its just a lot of upfront money.

Anyone know of some hose I can use with a catch can? the last hose I got would let the oil come through the pores of the hose. it was always wet with oil

I bought a pig leg a year ago, it was like $45. Lasted me a couple of months and used some for x-mas dinner with Evan. That was gooooood...

the rest was mostly deep fried

Try stuff rated for emission and/or fuel lines. IIRC you can get small sections at most auto parts stores.

This looks amazing, not sure I wanna commit to it though. Then again, I buy pizza every weekend which adds up to more than that... hmmmm

good idea, but a little pricey and I'd have to worry about the fedex guy stealing my bacon.

And Evan, along with everyone else, you can start your rejoicing. I’m going to go look at a car in Levi’s backyard (Wexford) on Saturday and unless it’s a piece of poo it will be coming home with me.
