The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Yea, he'd have to give me a hell of a deal on his car. It's probably worth $9,000 or so with all the mods he has, but I couldn't offer more than $7,000, because that's what I feel my car is worth. Even though dealerships would ask $8,000 or more for my car, doesn't mean anyone out there is willing to pay that much. I think I'd be hard pressed to find someone to give me $7,000 for this car as it is. Nobody's got money nowadays! haha

And we think it was a military persons car. That's usually the case when cars come from HI because....who's gonna pay to ship a MS6 from HI, when they're plentiful state side? I guess it could've been a regular owner out there, who wanted to move over here though. Either way, he said it drove excellent. I just worry about the damage. Looks amazing in the pics overall, but I noticed the headlight/hood/bumper gaps on the left side are a little off. The price IS reflecting the previous damage though....they're only asking $11,500 for it!!

IMO mods do not raise the value of any car. They are installed by an owner that has deemed it necessary to change what came on the car from the factory. They only hold value to the owner/seller, and maybe some of the people in the market for that particular vehicle.

True.

I think his is still worth around $9,000 though, and dealers would probably ask $10,000 for it. 6 wagons around $7,000 or $8,000 usually have well over 100K, and flaws all over the place. In his case, it's got just over 100K, he's the original owner, and I know how he takes care of his cars.

That's not a bad price at all, even with the history. As long at it checks out and the repairs were done properly (where you come in obviously), he should go for it.

I agree his car does look good. I just hate seeing ads for cars that have a higher than market value that read like a shopping list for modders. Or they just put on tires, pads and rotors, tune-up, and painted the car all-over. When they know full well that the car needed those things to even get a nibble from a buyer. The bank won't give anyone extra money on a loan to cover things the car doesn't need. Afterall Kelly Blue Book does not have a catagory for mods. lol

I'll have to post some of my favorite pics from the auto show when I get home. A friend might be buying my bronze rims that I use for racing so that means I have to get another set :) I do like Ivan's, but that means I have to use the RH's for SCCA or I use the RH's and buy some Kosei. If I do go that route should I go with the http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Mini...=2003&autoModClar=&wIndex=0&grid=true&sw=1440
or

Choices?

Not a fan of those. Are there any TR Motorsports wheels that would work on the MSP?

^ cant go wrong with either set of Koseis, getting those enkeis wouldnt make THAT much difference compared to the RH's, the wheels are ~ 3LBS lighter than RH's but with it being an 18 that difference could good be easily/quickly negated on the the tires, and you have a set up that is not any lighter than RH's

That is what I was trying to say lol. Kosei FTW depending if I sell my other rims and next couple pay checks. April wants to chip in for a wedding present for me :)

I've seen used orange ones for sale before. I'm sure you can get them somewhere if you look hard enough.

could always look for a used set of OZ's or Enkei RPF1's

my superleggeras are hard to find but a 17x8 weighs in under 16lbs, and well you know about enkei's.... looking around could land you a set for cheaper than buying new...

There are PF01's as well. Just a tad heavier than the RPF1's.

^true I could always just repaint them to if the finish looks like crap.

Check out the SCCA and NASA forums. I actually found my PF01's on a Texas Subaru forum just by doing a Google search.
