The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

I am so old school that I like the most basic, simple cars mostly for reliability. I like manual windows/locks because they are so easy to fix. If I only had one car I would want a stripped down basic car because I'm so paranoid things are going to wear out and break. Like the new Prius, that starter is going to wear out so quickly with all the on/off the gas motor does. I love that the Lotus Exige still has manual windows, not stereo and nothing else. Of course, that's a track car. But I still like bare bones. Then again, I just got the Millenia all buttoned up and Ivan and I drove around a bit and I would like a nice luxury, soft car with all the fixins. But I would never pay for a car like that. heh-heh.

But yeah, the Milly is running great. No CEL's and no more smoke from the tailpipe! I'm super happy. And tired. haha (wiggle)

I can see both sides, and I think for me it really depends on the car it's self. Like if I got a 3 I'd like it stripped down and basic, but if I'm getting a bmw I'd want it want it with all the good stuff. Except Nav, I don't know why but I never want a nav system in my car which is odd cause I'm terrible with directions and tend to get lost alot

Why wouldn't you want a nav system, sillypants? I use the one on my phone all the time.

i just don't like them. I'd rather use a map, or a phone if i ever upgrade my 8 year old phone to a smartphone. Old cars didn't have them. It's just unnatural, like fake boobs. I mean sure they're nice and they do the job but it's just not the same.

you don't like a woman telling you what to do? mine's pretty naughty... (shady)

new radio with aux input, problem solved. They might even have them with bluetooth, I've never looked into it.

I don't want to do that big of an upgrade. I mean, I use my Jawbone a lot and I have my Sirius plus an FM transmitter for my iPod sometimes, so I'm covered. Would be nice to have, that's all.

I've just been spoiled by all the press cars over the years, plus playing around with all the cars at work makes me want something built in really badly. (lol2)

alright not to change the subject or anything,, but im absolutely stumped on what i want for christmas from my parents and family and have no idea what to ask for. all i can think is a low profile jack because now i have to use my dads stock jack to get it high enough to fit the floor jack then get it up and do the same thing to get it down.

anyone have any reasonably priced suggestions for things for my car / working on my car for around 50$ or so? any suggestions are appreciated. sarcasm is not..... lol

I picked up a low profile jack at Wal-mart for about $30. Small and light weight. The handle on the other hand is a pain in the ass.

Around 2 months ago. It measures about 3 and a half-ish. I wasn't real precise, since I am not exacly dressed to be in the garage for very long.

I was going to say "tools" also. Tools will typically last a lot longer than your car will and will pay themselves off. I just bought a low profile (2-3/8") Jack from Harbor Freight for $100. A little out of your price range but its pretty nice. Or a $50 gift card could buy you half their store. Heh-heh

How about asking for those slim fans for your supercharger?

yes, harbor freight gift card is a good idea. we shop almost exclusively for tools there since we can't afford super nice snap-on stuff :D and we need a wide variety of random stuff! we have one of their floor jacks and we have been happy with it. i don't remember what kind we have, though. if you look around at the garages during a track day, you will notice that almost everyone uses them.

and on the other subject, i prefer simple, base model cars. my versa is the first car i've had with electric windows, locks and a key fob. i really wanted a base model with roll up windows, etc, but i find the electric stuff to be very nice.

i may ask for slim fans if i cant reverse the stock fan.

and yeah i got a harbor freight ad in the mail today.... i think i found some good stuff. but any other specific tools or objects such as automotive accessories are still appreciated
