The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Seriously, this announcement just made my day.

Edit: Holy crap. I just noticed the awesomeness of those two pictures together. Unintentional genius!

Holy shitballs! It's freaking POURING out tonight!

Almost had another bad water incident tonight, like the time Evan and I were stranded on the side of the highway because my car sucked up some water/moisture. There was a LOT of standing water on the way back from the grocery store, and the car started acting like it did before when this happened. Luckily, it must not've sucked up enough to kill the car completely. That, or the bypass valve I installed after the first incident worked! The car was running like dog s***, and the CEL came on, but it stayed running enough to limp home, about a mile and a half.

Letting it dry out in the garage overnight, hopefully all will be well tomorrow. Finally get to use the scanner I bought after the last incident too! Haven't needed it...lol

Got some water on the MAF sensor. Happened to me again tonight because of the rain too.

Yeah.... I have to agree with Fiji. When I had a CAI on my MS6, I had a couple of instances were it would just die because of water on the MAF or a soaked air filter.

yeah, coming home on 90W from work, my fastest wipe speed couldn't swipe the rain away fast enough. 4 lanes of traffic were down to 25mph but it kept moving so it wasn't too bad. i was actually quite surprised i didn't encounter any accidents ...

I'm always afraid of this happening with my CAI. Luckily I haven't had any problems yet.

I'm convinced the bypass valve prevented any serious damage, or enough damage to leave us stranded on the side of the road with a hatch full of groceries. lol

All was well today! Cleared the light, good to go.

I don't recommend it. lol

I popped the hood when I got home, and my whole engine and engine bay was covered in water, like I had just sprayed it with a hose! You can never tell just how deep the water is, and that's what gets you in trouble.

what about making yourself a splash shield...i thought of doing this...i'm still in the planning/thinking of it stage though

Get a K&N pre-filter, fo sho. I had a lot of problems with my filter and MAF getting wet and my car would run like poo after the swap. Since I got the pre-filter I haven't had a problem since.

And did you ever get the lower splash shield installed?

Kevin, you need those for the winter too, buddy. Or at least get rid of that CAI set-up for the winter. I don't want to do another swap for a couple months... ;)
