If you make it to the cook out you can see the whole set up in person.

Josue, no harm in asking, mate. I'll give you a ride for sure. I'm not hip to people driving my car, only a handful of people have driven it but since you're looking to buy one perhaps I'll let you. Not that it's an expensive or amazing car, just that it's my baby. haha

A lot of people will talk s*** about the P5 and the FS-DE motor (same motor in the MSP and MP3 too), but if it's been well taken car of and has had it's regular maintanence they will last a long time. I've got 130k miles and it still performs well. But coming from Hondas, I expected more from a 2.0l motor. But I still love it nonetheless. I've got a V6 in the garage for it in the summer. muahaha. ;)

Eh, you can end up with that FS burning oil at 70k miles, too... I guess it depends on what you want. I wouldn't buy a car with an FS, personally. MPG's are alright, but there's better stuff. I guess it depends on what you're looking for. If you just need 4 doors and MPGs, I'd rather go with an older Protege with the BP. If you just need MPGs, I'd get a Miata with either the 1.6 or 1.8, they're both great. If you need a wagon and need it cheap, I would say get another make, maybe a Saturn SW2 or something. It sure as heck won't be fun, but they're pretty reliable and won't rust (on the outside at least). I dunno, I'm kinda biased because my motor sucks. I'm biased to older cars that are light weight, too. If you want a 4 door car that handles awesome (IMO) and has a bit of power, I'd say a V6 626, with some suspension mods. They're cheap enough that you can fit it into the budget to replace blown shocks, or whatever.

^^^ I agree with ya, Wes. I'm not saying the FS-DE is the best motor in the world, or else I would've just boosted mine. But I'm just saying they're not as terrible as everyone says they are. That's all. A lot of the guys who complain the FS-DE's are crap is because they boosted the crap out of them and never got them tuned. Zoom-zoom-boom indeed. But maybe I just got lucky with my motor. But then again, Marlon and Bill race their FS-DE's and I haven't heard much negativity? This could be an endless debate. But I wouldn't buy a Saturn. I don't think I've seen a Saturn with more than 70k miles that doesn't run like it's on it's last leg. heh-heh.

When I was shopping for cars, I wanted a wagon I could fit my acoustic upright bass in, that was sporty to drive and that I could afford. I wanted an Accord wagon but they are very hard to find, especially with a manual tranny. So I got my P5 and I've been very happy with it. That's all. I'm not trying to start a debate or anything. Just saying I like my P5. And while I'm open to a test drive, my P5 isn't a very good one to drive since pretty much everything on it has been modified... heh-heh.

Oh god, asking to drive someone's car wasn't even in my thoughts! It will be semi-awkward enough to have someone there who just started posting a week before the meet, let alone to let that person drive your car. haha

I'm the type of guy who has to have vehicles that are aesthetically pleasing to me, as are most on an enthusiasts website such as this one. I don't like driving something just because "it gets me from point A to point B", like this car now. It starts up everytime and all, but it's rotting away, and I don't think I've mentioned yet that it looks like a giant golf ball! Every panel has dozens of dents from a hail storm a few years back. LOL It totaled the car out, but we bought it back and got a rebuilt title for it since it was only cosmetic damage.

A wagon seems like it would fit our needs pretty good for now, and for the price range, the 2 top choices are the p5's, and older Accord wagons. Everything else I've seen, I just can't get in to? It'd be nice to not have a payment, but if I can find something I really feel comfortable buying, then I don't have a problem shelling out the extra money. Hell, when we started looking at Trailblazers to replace my Colorado, we were in the $10,000 price range. Displeased with the choices, we started looking at the $15K range, and ultimately wound up spending $20K for the TB we bought because it was clean and only had 36K mi. Little more than we wanted to spend, but we know the vehicle will last us much longer than the other choices, or should at least. ***runs to knock on wood***

I also completely agree with what you said. I really like the look of the P5, I just wish it had the v6 from the factory, the way it should have. If I was really bent on getting one, I'd do exactly what you're doing. I don't have a problem getting a car and making it what I want it to be. I've realized they don't come from the factory how I want them... On another note, my buddy's brother's SL1 has over 260k miles and he bought it for 300$, it's still going strong. I heard more good than bad about them, but I didn't research them exhaustively. ;)

I totally understand. Unfortunately the attractive ones usually cost more, but if you can live with that, then it's not a huge deal. I like very few cars, especially visually, so I kind of decided to pursue ones that I liked the internals. I like blending in a lot better than sticking out. But having something that you enjoy is absolutely important. My ultimate wagon is easily a WRX, but I'd be very happy with a Forester, too. But the trade off is MPGs.

if we are talking dream wagons...i'd like a volvo v70 new...or old v70r...a bmw wagon or mercedes wagon...or an audi (without electrical problems) :) i love wagons and i wish america liked them more....

Nate, if you need some more pictures I can post mine later tonight. I ran a similar route (but cutting was required) and just finished last night.

I have my route planned, just need to make the cuts in the radiator suport bracket on both sides, but pics are always good

Mini vans and crossovers are making wagons obsolete in america. europe is where wagons are still a useful and viable wehicle.

I'd rock a wagon before I rock a mini-van, although I've always had a thing for the mazda 5.

The shop I work for does all the body work for Dave Walter BMW here in Akron, it's suprising how many BMW 3 AND 5 series station wagons we get in! I never would've guessed someone would pay $50K+ for a wagon!

I never paid much attention to wagons in the past really, although I DO remember saying I'd rather own a wagon over a convertible. lol Only recently, when I realized one would work for our situation right now, that I took more of an interest.

On a sidenote- my neighbor showed me that pull up cargo net that his 6 wagon has...I thought that was the coolest thing ever! Do the p5's have something like that too? Also, the rear cargo cover, does it retract up, or is it one of those hard, carpet covered, molded ones?
