The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

On a side note, I'm glad it only takes around 20 minutes to change a thermostat in the MSP. Had no heat for 2 days and the engine temps would plummet every time it would move.

Um, yes? I don't know about paint chipping off, though.

Personal experience with the Flex. After the first winter it has about a million small chips in the paint on the front of the car. No doubt from following too closely when there's salt/gravel on the road. Fortunately nothing is down to the metal but it still looks bad. I've made the same winter trips in my wife's Jetta (twice) and my 2 (once) and both of them look fine.

2016 Ford Explorer looks nice. Can be has w/ the 2.3 ecoboost and tow 3000 lbs.

I put a 3M invisible bra on the truck, it should protect the truck form stone and salt digs. I had one put on the 07 speed3 and it looked great after 98K when I sold it.

Woot! I get to start shadowing in our investment department tomorrow. At the very least it will be a good learning experience and resume builder, hopefully it will lead to something.

Interesting. I've got some rock chips but nothing worse than what I've seen in other cars. You have black right? Maybe that amplifies it?

3k towing is weak for that size SUV.

V6s will tow 2.5 tons.

Agreed, I had the 3m film on my car and it did a great job at keeping the front end clean. Although, I hit a cone doing autox and it left a permanent mark in the film

If I ever get the front end touched up it'll be the first thing I do.

Blue, I forget what Ford calls it.

Make sure you read up on the tow ratings for those vehicles. There's probably lots of restrictions and stipulations. The Flex will tow 4500 lb but that's only with the factory tow package and a weight distributing hitch. When the RX-7 is done the next big purchase is an aluminum trailer in the 1000-1200 lb range. That plus the RX-7 should give me an easy 1000 lb wiggle room for other stuff.

EDIT: Also, the new Explorer is weak. Ever since it went to a car chassis and a transverse engine it lost any appeal to me. Fortunately Toyota has gone the opposite direction with their 4-Runner and the new one's look mean as hell.

We do get a discount from Black A Chip for the Clear Bra......It has held up extremely well on MS3...They Use XPEL as opposed to the 3M film

I'm not so sure about the front end on the Toyota. Looks like a big fat pug face.

The most towing I will probably ever do is an engine less rolling chassis to and from a body shop. Maybe a pop-up camper.
