The harder i try...........

Be glad this didn't happen to your car...

So my girlfriend is pulling into the Northeastern Parking lot one day around 12:30, between classes so the lot is pretty full. This girl in a brand new Jeep Liberty (with her boyfriend) is tailgating her and decides to floor it and take a different route through the parking lot to get to the garage on the other end.

My g/f takes her time and watches this Liberty fly into the garage sqealing tires around every corner. When my g/f rounds one of the corners on her way up she sees the Liberty flying in reverse at her. She puts it in reverse just in time to get out of the way. Then she watches the Liberty whip into a spot that the girl had obviously driven by becuase she was going too fast.

My girlfriend drives by and parkes half a floor up..as she drives by she notice the temp plate on the back....this Jeep is brand new.

As she is walking down to catch the elevator she hears the girl and her boyfriend yelling at each other in hindi (half the students are from India it seems). Then the girl bends over and starts rubbing the white Taurus next to where she parked.

My girlfriend stalls and pretends to tie her shoe then walks over to the car after they left.

This girl took out the entire side of the Taurus with her brand new Jeep liberty...and just walked away. Both doors and the rear quarter panel would have to be replaced. Green paint from the Liberty was smeared across the entire side of the Taurus. No note was left, nothing. So my girlfriend left a note in the car with her information and the license plate of the Jeep and told the person to call her if they needed a witness.

Can you believe that? I still have trouble. How can people be so rude?

You must be trying to hard...

Simply; park far away from everyone. That philosophy works well for me. Extra walking? A little exercise is healthy. (thumb)

by the way..did you ever get that kicked in fender fixed?

I was going to start a new thread about my tale of woe, but the Spicy Woman has provided a perfect venue first, so here goes.

I've had my car two months, and so far, no dings, rock crap from trucks, etc. Well, on Friday, I'm leaving my apartment complex, and right across the street from my entrance is a Texaco station. I stop, turn on my left turn signal, and start to exit the complex when I see a fairly new Olds 88 hauling ass out of the gas station coming towards me, so I slow way down, almost stop, because I can't tell what the hell this guy is going to do, and I want him to see that I've already entered the street. He doesn't even look, just barrels out of the station's driveway, turns left, and ploughs right into me.

His left front fender hits my left front fender and crumples it up pretty bad. He and his passenger jump out the car and they are a couple of teenage kids. The guy starts apologizing all over the place, telling me he knows it's his fault, but he can't have his parents find out he's been in an accident, etc, etc, and tells me he wants to give me cash on the spot to fix my car, whatever amount I think it would take, only please don't call the cops. He gives me his wallet, says let's go to the nearest ATM, he'll get the money right now, blah blah.

Of course, I don't even consider that, for obvious reasons, and I call the police. When the cops come, he starts backtracking, saying he doesn't remember if he stopped before exiting the gas station, doesn't remember how fast he was going, stuff like that. Suddenly he has no memory. The cop says he can't tell from the damage who was at fault, so he's not going to cite anybody, and we'll just have to let our insurance companies battle it out. (By this time, we've moved the cars out of the street and into my parking lot.)

So the upshot is, the estimate for my car is $1,350, and I have a $500 deductible. My insurance people said they would attemp to get the money out of his insurance and refund my deductible if they are successful, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm driving my beautiful little baby around with a crumpled up fender until the body shop can get one in. They say I can bring it on Monday the 21st, and it will take 3-5 days to fix.

The only consolation is, I drove my car away, and the big Olds had to be towed. It was leaking power steering fluid, and the brakes pulled so hard to one side, they couldn't drive it.

I just hope the little bastard decides to tell his insurance co. the truth.
