I normally can't stand Frenchy music, but I listened to the Talkie Walkie album yesterday and I really like it. Anyone have opinions on them? Sounds like some good s*** to bone to. Am I teh girly man?

I had one of their older albums, Premier Symptoms and I loved it, then it got stolen. Talkie Walkie is pretty good, also.

Yep, Air is good. They did some stuff for the Virgin Suicides soundtrack also.

Playground Love is on that soundtrack and the video is pretty original as far as movie soundtrack videos go. Fly on the wall type perspective, just different.

Portishead - score points with everyone. I was just discussing with a friend the other day how many people like portishead, yet you never find out - until you put it on and someone says "Ooooh, I like Portishead", or something similar. I really think it comes down to - the first time you hear it, just pretty much instantly catch how cool it is. Well timed, orchestrated, and just enough jazzy dub sound to put you in that "groove" feeling. I think most people who hear it basically feel the same way about it, it just is one of those feelings that you assume only you feel.

Portishead - score points with everyone. I just recently bought Talkie Walkie and I like it a lot. My favorite song in it is Alpha Beta Gaga. The CD also came with a DVD with some show footage, so that was a bonus.
My friend saw them play in Germany.

Loved "Moon Safari" when it first came out.

The other French Band (yes, there are two) that is worth checking out is Daft Punk. Their first album--"Homework"-- is great, the second--"Discovery"--is really good, and their third is coming out soon.

Yes, Portishead is veddy veddy good.

Haha, I used to have the Daft Punk "Around the world" single, I didn't realize they were french too. The video for that song kicks ass. I got it when I visited germany years ago, it was like the number one song at the time. I remember that and Members of Mayday(can't think of the song title) were on the top of the charts. Rammstein was also rocking the world with Engel at the time(of course it became big in the US like a year later or something).

Air = AWESOME. I saw them last year up here at the Avalon.. freakin' incredible, and there were sooo many hot girls there. yea.

French music, I like a lot of it.. Jean Michel Jarre, Daft Punk, Jay Alansky, St.Germain, Scan X.. that's really all I can think of off hand.

but for some REAL fun, get into some Dutch music- Herman Van Veen's "Zo Vrolijk" will open up your eyes.. or ears.. or whatever. Tot zeins!

Ah, I wish I had those the Daft Punk DVD's ..
