you track ****** singing the songs of road course exploits need to get a life (bolt)
the one thing that sold most of us on this car, the main aspect that sealed the deal, was the power, specifically the torque. Sure we like the 4 doors with a hatch, sure we like the look, or the overall value, but the 263hp and 280lbft is what sealed the deal. showcasing that power is such an accessible activity during the average menial drive; it's something you can do in any number of ways, safely and legally, on pretty much any public road anywhere and any time.
it could be merging into traffic, pulling away from a toll, passing a line of slow moving traffic- these are examples that you see everyday, and the fun had has everything to do with pressing the pedal and feeling the torque and very little to do with lateral G's. sure, fantastic handling is great, and coupled with some skill certainly can be very rewarding and in fact life saving, but during the daily drive, there is little to no outlet for much of anything that can be had on a road course.
i'd invest more time into promoting track time for sport bike enthusiasts, where it really makes sense, as opposed to preaching to those who for the most part are looking for more power for the daily commute as 280ftlbs is just not enough after a while. i mean, just take a look through most of the this forum- a heavy, heavy percentage want more power, they want to go faster...not on a road course, but in the real world.
i understand the handling game...you'll see me promoting the new eibach pro-kit release countless times on this forum, but let's not forget where we are here and what car we're talking about!
IMHO, it is the ones that don't think a 0-60mph time in less than 6 seconds and a top speed of 150mph is not enough for the street that need to "get a life"; it is more than plenty. The truth is that most who crave more power for the sake of some number on a dyno cannot handle the power the car already has stock. It is usually the same people who only read the HP figures when they read a magazine road test. But, I did the same thing when I was a little boy. FYI, I have seen a novice in Viper out run on Roebling Road in Savannah by a Civic because the Viper driver could not drive...Start modifying for more power once you can drive the car at 10/10ths on a road course for a few laps...
