Test drove the MSP...my .02

so i got a second and went and drove the MSP yesterday and I must say that I am impressed. It is like my P5 in so many ways but just BETTER! the engine's sweet spot stays right around 4,000 and is nice and strong and CORNERING! i loved throwing it around corners it just held and was flat and so sweet. if i had the cash and wasn't getting married i would definately think about it.
also it is too bad that don't make a MSP5. it would be a blast. anyhow...take it for what it is worth....
oh yeah, i think i would kill someone to have my P5 in that titanium color they have the speed in this year.

the test drive is what sold me too.. i was there looking at my brothers mazda 6 he is buying and then i saw the MSP.. finally my salesman said take it for a spin, soo i did... i test drove a black one, and i drove it all over.. went on highway, city streets and I-74... loved it and came back and bought the orange one.

Mazda should read their surveys or read this board about the test drives. In recent months it has become harder and harder to test drive a MSP at some dealers. This is even with people who get the credit approval etc. Sad since this seems to be the one selling spot of the MSP is the test drive.

You mean you guys got to test drive the car before you bought it? I sure as hell didn't, but my mind was already made up.

Better believe it!!!

I drove 2. I would never buy a car (any car), without first driving it. No way!

I spun the tires on my test drive... with my wife in the car... and she still let me buy it!

I actually went there looking at a Matrix but considering the P5; the P5 was great but the Matrix (which I then got for a day when the MSP went in for warranty work) was nowhere near as fun or direct as it should be. That GTS 8000RPM engine is awful in that car - too frantic and not enough low-end grunt. The handling, though, was better than expected. The seats, well, were what decided it for me NOT getting the Matrix (I was coming out of a beee-autiful '90 GLI with Recaros... you can see the GLI this year at Waterfest...)

A rarity - I'm somewhat (OK, very much thankyou) a car nut, but had NEVER CONSIDERED the MSP prior to my test drive - just didn't think of it. After the test drive... sold.

I gotta agree; an MSP5 with AWD would be absolutely awesome. Yeah, titanium rocks!

s*** man I took that car on the highways and streets and even on the turnpike and I-75 and I dogged the s*** out of it. I was like ok I want this car. So I left and went to another dealership and bought it there LOL.

Testing, 1...2....3

The first dealer I went to had a 1k markup on the car and refused to let me drive it. It had a big sign in the window "NO TEST DRIVES".

I blew these a$$hole$ off, went 15 miles down the road to one of the most friendly dealerships I've ever dealt with and bought the car after an amazing test drive with an old guy who claimed to have been a Formula 1 driver in his youth. The racer dude really knew how to drive, and I was sold by the way the car performed under his skilled control down a deserted, twisty back country road. My own test drive was great, but almost irrelevant as my skills were weak compared to his.

3 weeks, no complaints.

Sorry but NO TITANIUM grey for the mass!!! hehe I don't want my titanium to be just like laser blue, sorry mp3 owners. I think it would rock if MAZDASPEED has their colors compare to reg. Mazda that way you can tell if it's a mazdaspeed or not, if u keep up the stuff, instead of huge emblem saying mazdaspeed here and there and everywhere like some car company. And this would reduce the # of imposter getting some mazdaspeed banner and put it on their windshield and say hey I got a wanna be mazdaspeed. That is how mazdaspeed can remain to be limited edition. Sorry if i offend any1, just walk along and have a nice day ;-)

Went for the 6s but after the MSP caught my eye the salesman said let's drive it after the test drive he got out walked over to my Wife (who was not riding with us) and asked my wife,"How do you like your Husband's new car?"
Man I made that salesman scream when I drove it. It really was the way the car is so connected to the road that sold me.
Without the test drive I know I would have bought something else.

Awwww Horseshit!!!!!!!!

If I have to hear that story one more ******* time, I swear I will come to Ft. Worth and hog tie your Cowboy Ass!!!!!!!!!
(rofl) (puke) (pukey) (omg)

hehe true YuYuRena I don't like the fact the Blue Mica went to the P5 even though it looks pretty good.
Not sure if the gray would look good on the P5 body though.

But also remember MazdaSpeed is a performance off shoot of mazda. Therefore any car can techincally be a MazdaSpeed.

We went (GF and I) to go see a MSP in Toronto, they wouldn't let us near the car. So I went to the manager and explained why I thought this was total BS. I've test driven more expensive and faster cars no problem, I really felt they were over-hyping the MSP. The salesman kept saying "people are buying on specs, they don't need to drive the car" I still say BS on that one, I will not buy a car without test driving it, I have no problem proving I have the cash to buy the car. As it turns out, they must have just been nervous without having seen us drive. We both drove a new protege, and after that they let us test drive the MSP. I didn't thrash it but I gave it a good run, good enough to know that the car was worthy. End result, we bought the car, that wouldn't have happened if they didn't let us test the car.
