Technical inaccuracies of the Fast and the Furious

I heard that with certain kind of clutches...(a puck clutch or something) you might have to double clutch for it to grab right or some crap.

Look at the eclipse when he is driving up to the illegal races at the warehouses. when it shows shot from ground towards front you can see a cord dragging on the ground!

The one where he first races teh RX7? When he first pulls up?

I'm not sure WHAT fell off there, but it looked like something under the middle front of the car...

Another thing that is weird with the Eclipse... they say it is a turbo, add the blow-off valve wistle, but the car actually is not turbo. The car has no turbo at all. They just wanted to say it was turbo in the movie.

How do you know it wasn't turbo'd?

Alot of those cars didn't have the mods they said. The Eclipse was an RS with no turbo. Some magazine (forgot which one) did a story where they reviewed each car in real life.

As far as the NOS, I think you can have both a fogger system and direct port. Would make sense, he had 2 NOS buttons. I don't have too much experience with NOS.

If I am not mistaken, NOS and Apexi are the only real brands you ever see in the movie, I think. Oh yeah, they mention Koni.

the race was a mile. but as the bolts comming off i didn't have a hole when torreto got pic up by him when the cop was chassing him. :D :D :D

It was really a re-bodied car from "Christine" I think.

As for the F&F, it was terrible. The eye-candy (cars) was decent, but the story sucked the dialog was crap and lets face it, the whole thing was inaccurate as hell.

You could tell the Eclipse wasn't a trubo, it wasn't even all-wheel drive. The car launched like a front-wheel drive. The lap-top scene was classic though, with whatever message shot up on the screen. "Manifold Problem" or what ever. Who the hell porgrammed that set-up? And I hate when the floor I bolted in my car flies off.

I would have to argue that the best car was that Charger at the end. Which, should have beatin' the Supra with out a hitch. Gutted Charger pushing over 900 horse v. full interior Supra?

Oh yeah, let's not forget the two foot high Civics that drove under the diesel trailer. No Civic can get that low.

I could go on for days, but this is a good start...

Yes, they charger did have definite presence unlike some of those rice cars. The charger was just big, mean and beautiful.
Sometimes there is no replacement for displacement :D

Ahh. BUT, theoreticly, he could have put a turbo in it himself. I doubt they did for the movie though.

No when he first pulls up to the warehouse hangout place before they go to the race....

ahh..i'll check it.

ChrisS, Yeah, i also thought that the whole "driving under the trailer" thing was a crock. I mean, it was cool that they did it, but for it to be possible, they'd have to be 1" off the ground, and they'ed have to chop the top.

The Eclipse was not a turbo; as stated before. It sold for under $20k on ebay I believe. It was an Eclipse RS which is the 1.8 Liter motor SOHC. It did sport NOS, but I'm unsure of an actual 1/4 mile time, I'm guessing slow.

I agree about the sound system. I don't know anyone who wants to build a 12 second car let alone a 10 second car with 500 pounds of stereo equipment. Ridiculous.

On a positive note I do think the movie was entertaining so cheers to them!

Thom

i'll say it again
THAT MOVIE WAS F'IN GAY
BAD ACTING, BAD ACTORS,BAD SCRIPT,BAD DIRECTION AND PRODUCTION SUCKED.THE CHICKS WERE'NT THAT CUTE
BUT THE ONLY THING GOOD ABOUT THAT MOVIE WAS THE RX-7. DID YOU GUYS NOTICE THE RIMS.
THEY LOOKED LIKE THROWING KNIFES.(JUST BEFORE THEY RUN THE 1/4 MILE(MILE LONG) RACE.

OH YEAH DID HE EVER GET HIS CAR OUT OF THAT GARAGE AFTER THE COP CHASE?

NO CUTE GIRLS?

BESIDES THE TWO HOTTIE LEAD CHICKS...what about the Japanese girl in the Catholic school girl outfit? She is the kind that dreamers can't EVEN dream of...
Some of the girls did look hoochie, but still FINE AS HELL, and every flavor too.

Obviously Raerae, was looking at Vin Diesel alittle too much and missed the constant barrage of ULTRA FINE Kitty.

Yeah,

He did get the car back. Remember when he drives "Spilner" to go see the Charger? That's the car they are in.
