Is it true this knob fits the p5? If so whats the best site to order it from. Just can't resist that spun pearl one. (2thumbs)

Post some pics when you get it!

Here's mine:

Sorry to revive a 3-month old thread, but I just installed the pearl magnum last week. I love it, and it actually shortens the height of the shifter from stock...it almost looks like a short shifter now.

My question, though, is how do you get the boot to fit snug against or under the knob? I now have a trashy looking gap of maybe a 1/4' from the base of the knob to the top of the boot.

Thanks!

I have yet to work that out, I've got the spun aluminum and love it but there is a bit of a gap. the only way I was think of so far (not much thought put into it) was to remove the boot, peel the plastic piece off and re-attach it with more care than what Mazda put it on with...

edit: though I realize that Pimpprotege already has the answer he was looking for, the Team Voodoo knob will also fit the Kartboy SS exactly (not just a threading that works) as I check specs with both Kartboy and Team Voodoo prior to buying.

I've considered that myself, but I'm afraid I'll just make things worse. In the pics above the boot is tucked in tight...I'm assuming those pics have stock boots and as well as stock shifters(?)

though he isn't making very many this month, I've been looking at the boot from shaundarbie and from what I can tell about how its setup, there shouldn't be a noticeable gap...

That's a possibility there. I really like the stitching.

Not sure how much of a PITA a shift boot would be to install though.

other than the gluing involved I can't imagine it'd take more than 5 minutes because I've looked at the way the current one is held on and its really simplistic. Poseur was saying that he got it done in about 10 minutes :D

To cure the gap is an easy fix. You need to take the center console out. Than just unscrew the four screws that secure the base of the shifter boot. Then, pull it up word so it's turned inside out (with the knob on). Once you have it pulled up snug to the shift knob, wrap a heavy duty Zip Tie around the stick and pull it tight as possible. Then trim the excess length of Zip Tie. You can put another one on for kicks if you'd like below the first. Then pull the boot back down and make sure it's nice and snug and looks good. Once your happy just screw back down the shifter base and reinstall the console and your good to go. Your results should look like below:
