Possibly should have posted this on the TCS thread but it's gotten rather long. I have seen some references to brake activation in TCS mode apart from the normal stepping on the brake to slow down or stop. What is this activity, under what conditions does it occur? Also does it contribute to faster brake pad wear than in non TCS operation? Unusually rapid brake pad wear has been an issue for me.

The car can operate individual brakes in order to manage instability if the car becomes unsettled in a turn. I doubt that it works long enough to cause any measurable wear. We’re talking about a partial application only while the TCS bleeper is sounding and if that was going enough to cause wear then I suggest the driver needs to moderate his or her driving. If you have the turbo model you have the big brakes to assist you with brake pad life.
