Taking the dive, buying one, tranny question

right now im in a 03 mazdaspeed protege...pure crap, on my second motor, second diff, third gearset and 2nd MAF.... tired of literally spending, no lie now, about 200 a month "average" on parts. so i read through ALOT of threads and posts and the such, and i seem to understand the slow from a stop get-up, the oil burning, and idling, im used to a turbo so idleing is no thing ill put my turbo timer in it.

now here is my question....how strong is the drive train, i cant find crap on here, mazdas are notorius for grenading the tranny. and if they are decent, are there rearend gears that are decent to shorten it up.

The RX-8 uses a slightly modified MX-5 gearbox.

The JDM version 13B-MSP engine is/was rated at 184kw & apparently that's about the upper limit of the boxes power rating.

If you turbo or supercharge the MSP engine & shoot well into the 200+kw area, the life expectancy will be shortened as you would expect.

thank you i appreciate the answer. I picked up the about 2 days ago. comforting to know it wont bomb like the protege. so far its a black to drive it
