Tailgate Lock stuck in locked position

I have a 2007 CX-9. The taligate is open but the locking mechanism is stuck in the locked position. How to I get it to the unlock position so I can shut the taligate? (pressing unlock on remote, doesn't work) Thx

A screwdriver might work. I do that on my work truck when they get stuck

Got it

Got it unlocked. Screwdriver, Unlock button, and pull the handle on the tailgate.
