Hello every one, I have a 2006 Mazda5 Sport. My problem is can understand how brakes lights and signal lights are working normal, but the tail lights blows fuses right away when I replaced new fuses or new bulbs. How can I find wiring may get shorted to ground some where under the carpet. Could some one points out some clues or hints where it may be a sources of damages in the cars. Thank you for your help(jerkit)

if you bought it new, then have you done any work/mods to the interior, look there first. If you bought the 5 used, then gonna have hunt for the short. Look under the door sill covers all the way back, check the tail light connector plugs and wiring, etc. you may have a loose wire on one of the tail light connectors, and its grounding against something. GL

Have a close look for trailer wiring, or worse yet, poorly UN-installed trailer wiring. Trailer wiring converter boxes are also a common source of issues with tail lights. i have noticed several spots on my 5 where factory wires pass over sharp body parts with no protection on the wire. I have been adding wrap as I find them.

I took snapshots of the wiring diagram. should be
similar.

It appears, license plate lights, and tail lights are fed via the same fuse,
as well as rear-foglights (which we in N.A. don't have).

I use a radio or light connected to the fuse as I inspect the wiring.
When the light or radio turns off, then I have found the short.

Good luck!.

The problem ended up being an internal short in the trailer hitch wiring module. I removed it completely made sure that the insulation damages from the splicing were properly taped and that eliminated the short.

@ J.P Thank you for the heads up.
@ skyhawk Thank you for the schematics.
