Tail Light Conversion!!!!

haha! gotcha! you all thought there was gonna be a picture of a pro w/ a tail conversion j/k... theres no pic though

heres my idea:
we all know the WW kit... if not.. look at it at http://www.wingswest.com
anyway, you know how the flares kinda just end in the back? they just like... stop... they dont blend, they dont mold, they dont reach to the back of the car.. they just stop
i had this idea for a tail light conversion... 94 Prelude!! BOO YAH!

im not sure how much work would need to be done, or what the price range is.... but i wanna have the first mp3 w/ 94 prelude tail light conversion...

heres how i think it would work:
the inside of the lights should line up pretty well w/ the trunk... some cutting/bondo will probably be needed... but then the lights would stick out to far around the sides of the body... thats where the ww kit comes in... if you extended the flares all the way to the back, and did some bondo work, i think the prelude lights would fit nice.... you know.. just have a peice fabricated that would "extend" the flares... bondo it all together and touchup around the edge of the lights...

I'm really looking for input on this matter... i wanna know what you guys think...

im kinda torn though, because i do think we have some of the most boombastical (lol) tail lights.. i really like em... but as alot of you know.. im all about the "if you cant tell what im driving without further examination, then my job is done"

ok.. well umm.. would you possibly care to enlighten us on why your opinion is such?

big ben, before reading below, please know im not in any way criticizing or insulting you, and I am NOT comparing you to my fictional 16 year old character below

(i like to ask ppl why they think the way they do when it comes to opinions... i just like to see if the person has a valid basis for an opinion.. for example, if they did research, and for what they want, its not the best choice etc etc.. or if they just heard some guy at the street races say they dont like AEM intakes, and now some poor little impressionable 16 yr old is gonna think he shouldnt like AEM either.. those are just examples, but i think you get the idea)

basically, im just curious as to what you have against conversions?? i understand total conversions... for example the miata to s2000 conversion... total conversions are pointless in my opinion.. just by the car you wanted to convert to.. but anyway... if you could give me a quick answer that would be cool

Every conversion that I have ever seen is just completely stupid. Like a MR2 converted to a 3000GT(it was hideous), Saturn to an Integra(even more hideous). The paint always looks like s***. You can ALWAYS see where the bondo is at. Basically they all look like crap. And whats the point of doing it? So you can have something everyone else doesn't. If that is what you want, go become a doctor and buy a Lamborgini. You wont see many of those around. I'm not criticising you for wanting to do it, I'm just saying that conversions look stupid in my opinion.

Not flaming here but just want to answer your question as to what the point of conversions is. It all goes back to the roots of Hot Rodding. Hot rods and street rods used to have chopped tops and suicide doors and cadilac lights frenched in to the rear. Granted you may have seen alot of porr examples of conversions on imports but I have seen plenty of good ones. One question and this is a small flame. Are you referring to the White Apex MR2 with the 3000 GT front end (ehhhhhheeeghgggmmmm scuz me 3000 GT Headlights) Because if you are I have seen it up close and in person and it is some really nice work. If it wasn't nice work I don't think I would have seen it in the booth at Nopi or in the magazine feature a couple of monthes later. Like Protege01MP3 said he wants to know if what you are saying can be backed up with reasons. Specific reasons not general broad based opinions that cover "ALL CONVERSIONS" Imports are the Hot Rods of today and just like back then you are going to find some prime examples of excellence and some of junkyard decent. I just have a hard time when people make such broad sweeping general statements. BTW if it wasn't for all of those guys modifying and chopping up their cars we wouldn't have the import scene we have today.

No, the MR2 I'm talking about is red, and it looked like total s***. It looked like one of those old micro machines toy cars. It kinda looked like a deformed midget. Maybe that will paint a picture in your head of what it looked like. But as for the old hot rods, they usually look very good because it's not some impatient 19 year old kid that wants an Integra front end on his Yugo. The hot rodders are usually older guys that take like 8 years to build their cars.

i like CLEAN conversions, just dont know how itll look on a mp3, photochop it.

i want someone to tint the stock tails, and someone else to paint some clears, and smoke them,. and.etc...

why would you want to do a 4th gen prelude taillight conversion? There are other taillight styles that look so much better IE: skyline tails, accord V6 coupe tails, altezza tails (with red lights in trunklid).

because i kinda dig the prelude lights... although... im not saying im going to do this.. it was just an idea... I do like the suggestion of the other tail styles tho... i would like to do some sort of conversion... but then again.. i havent had my car in so long.. i dont think i appreciate it as much as i once did... i went by to see it sitting there... all dirty and ****** up and s***... and i remembered how much i miss it... every day i think about that car... but then when i saw it it reminded me even more of how much i miss my baby... hopefully it'll be comin back to me this weekend... hopefully.. but ive said that before...

and when i saw it... there was a sheet kinda draped over it... covering the tails so that they were in the shape of more of a triangle than they already are... and it looked kinda cool... im thinkin maybe covers for em... or even a cover for the whole light itself.. just have the 3 red circles from the euros showing... i dont know.. im just tryin to be as original as possible and still keep mad style
