I was wondering if anyone has upgraded their turbo to the T3/T4? I was thinking of upgrading mine. :D

yea there's atleast 2 members in TX with a t3 and a t3/t4. i think only one posts here often. i'll let him decide if he wants to talk about it though.

i am in the austin area and met up with a fellow msp owner that had done the swap and he said that he lost a lot of power from doing the swap.

what the hell was he doing, running 1 psi??

OrangeMSP did not have any kind of FMU, so the car did not know what to do with everything that was on the car. split50 now has the car, ask him whats up.

id attend to other stuff first, like a stand alone or piggyback
to control the most important things first.

Yeah but it looks as though he's into car shows.. Flashy turbo setups get points at shows ;D

t3ase is truly a tease, maybe one day we'll truly know his setup, who knows he could have the fastest mazdaspeed out there ;)

ok getting off subject guys any one done this swap if so what are the ups and downs i dont see a prob with a larger turbo fuel i dont think would have a play sence the fuel is contorled by the ecu and as our cars run rich all ready i think you would gain power not lose... any one else ..

Trust me, if you put a new turbo on the car without proper fuel management, the car will run like s***.

You *MUST* have a FMU or standalone to properly run a larger turbo on our cars.

For instance, my car back when I just had a boost controller on the stock T25 at 12psi walked OrangeMSP's T3/04e hybrid setup because of no proper management. Now the car SOUNDED like a beast but without something controlling everything, it just didn't have the umph it should have.

If that's not a good enough answer, talk to Spool if he's still up with helping us all out.

make the fuel/engine mangaement systems up to par before upgrading to make it worth it.

So true....look at how much power people like Perfworks are getting off the stock turbo. The turbo will make power (probably too much for the weak internals) just give it a chance. I personally can vouch for the output of the T3/T4. I bought just a standard stage 2 .60 ar trim and it will flow enough to make 450hp on my 2.3L motor. No msp will be able to handle that power either in the bottom end or in traction. There are seriously better ways to spend $700+ on your MSP before you go out and buy a bigger turbo.
