Swapping OEM CD Player for OEM 6 CD Changer

Has anyone done this swap? I'm in the process of buying an OEM 6 CD changer from a forum member and I'd like to know what I'm getting into. =) SpicyMSP and other forum members have suggested getting the radio removal tools. I found a site on the net that sells them, but there seems to be two parts that have the same name, but different part numbers:

Part 1

Part 2

Any idea which I should buy? Also, which other tools should I have handy when doing the install and are any other additional parts required?

Thanks.

i've taken the stock radio apart - it would be easy as hell to do this swap. in fact, the button for the disc changer is on the radio itself, just covered up by that bump labeled "compact disc". there are clips and some small screws that hold the cd player into the unit. undo them, pull it "installation is the reverse of the removal" as they always say.

umm, tools??? Honestly, I'd really just use a coathanger. SirNuke I believe perhaps in the other forum posted a really good sticky of what it takes. It's really simple. Basically, after you pry off the little plastic caps ont he sides, there's 2 vertically stacked holes on each side that need to have something shoved in them soasto release the "catch" After that, just pull it out. If you pry off the "tape/md" cover on the bottom center, it's prettymuch not a problem to get a good handle on it.

GO to Wal-Mart or Autozone and get the "Ford Radio Removal Tools", they look like U-shaped metal rods. Get two sets (so you have four total). You will have to bend them a little closer together when you insert all four to remove the stock radio. It's easy.

sir nike's post from a different forum:

I found it quite helpful when I was prepared to go get the tools, but everywhere was closed. in retrospect I'm glad I didn't buy the tools, kinda silly for one-use. I've also used the same bent-coat-hanger for a buch of other stuff in my car (as seen in my 14g door wire how-to) The only modification I can suggest to nuke's method is to not worry about the larger "puller" piece. Just make the U shaped ones, then pop off the cass/md plate and use the hole and edges that leaves for pulling it out with. You get a MUCH better grip on it as the factory unit's got a rubber "plug" in the back that sits pretty firmly into a support bracket.

Thanks guys! I'll probably get the radio removal tools because it'll be easier.

Edit: So other than the removal tools, will I need any extra parts for the OEM changer or is it just plug and play?
