Surprised how clean the air intake filter was

:
2023 CX5 turbo
Decided to change the air cleaner and surprised how clean the old one was. 2023 turbo and 34000 miles and exactly 2 years old. I it has seen a lot of dirt roads so figured it was time but definitely was not necessary. Mazda must have placed the fresh air intake in a good place as there were no dried bugs either....No oil residue, no grit etc...

Changed mine at 22 and 41k miles (2020 Turbo), and the old one was very clean both times. No dirt roads, though, for me.

Must be something about your conditions.

It takes in air from the front just like Mercedes, but those filters get filthy. I had a bee in my CX-5 filter at 3,000 miles.

I have been pretty much all over. Montana, Idaho Washington, Oregon all multiple times and both Dakotas, Wyoming, Minnesota Wisconsin again multiple times and Utah and Arizona.

There may be crud collecting at the bottom of the air box rather than going into the filter.
