SunTek Tint - Should I get the metallic based or carbon-dyed based?

The tint shop I was recommended to offers SunTek films in either a metallic based, or the carbon-dyed based..

Anyone have experience with either? Which would you suggest?

I was thinking of going 20% all around, but that might be too dark.. so maybe 30%.

I have a 2007 galaxy grey btw.

I got llumar metallic at 35% on all the side windows and 20% on the rear windscreen. I went with the metallic bc it blocks more uv but was able to get it a a lighter %.

I am very familiar with Suntek brand of film. My accessory shop has used Suntek for about 3 years now and never had any problems. I highly recommend Suntek's carbon dyed film (named 'Carbon' series), it is one of the few films in the industry offering a lifetime warranty for cracking, peeling, adhesive failure and fading. With the 'Carbon' series, you don't have to worry about the metal layers in the film screwing around with radio reception or cell phone either.

As far as percent, it is all personal preference. I went with 35% because 20% was just too dark for me (and it's illegal here (five-0) ). The Carbon series also blocks 99% of all UV rays as well.

I hope this info helps!

i have always had the carbon on all my cars and loved it. I have the carbon also on my MS3.

Thanks for the quick responses..

I'm definitely thinking that 20% may be too dark (it's illegal to tint the front windows period in cali)... 30% might be a good choice since I think 35% might be too light for me..

I'm definitely leaning towards the Carbon series now!

I've used 3M Color Stable on several cars over the last 5 years and have been very pleased with it. It is a carbon based dye.

one more question..

do you think it'd look better to do 30% all around, or 30% on the fronts and 20% on the rear 3 windows?

I think that the same level of tint should be used on the sides regardless of what you do on the rear. In my opinion, it doesn't look as clean to have a different level of tint on the same side of a vehicle.

I did 30% on the 6 side windows, and 20% on the rear.
