i am going to buy a 93 or 94 r1 and i will have about $4,000-$5,000
on spend on the motor what do you all think i should do i am trying to get the biggest bang for the buck

first off have the motor comp tested before you buy it, if the motor is good and it has the stock turbos they are probably on their way out, i would do a full tune up on it first then if need be get the turbo's rebuilt , after you get it working right then start on the good stuff , cat back, intake, ECU upgrade. We do a lot of work on them so hit me up if you got ??'s or need something

Well first off, I hope you are buying a 7 that starts and keeps running when you drive it. If not then this is pointless. But assume all is good so far, here's what you should do.

Head over to www.racingbeat.com and buy a rebuild package for the engine. Purchase the tools to take the engine out and apart (you will probably do this more then once in the next 5 years)

With the engine apart inspect the turbo and its components and replace as necessary. Oil cooling is a big issue, address that next. Then better cooling for the turbo. Then catback, better intake, ignition.. well.. you're out of money by now...

Ok have fun and enjoy the new toy. Just remember this, owning a 3rd gen RX-7 is a love/hate relationship... You will love driving it (when it runs) but hate all the work repairing and tuning it.
