so, i ripped the headunit out of my 07 mazdaspeed 3 and notice there are NO rca outputs for an amp.
is there something that can hook into the stock cd player to give me outputs?

any help is appreciated.

If you have the BOSE system then the outputs on the back of the head unit are in fact pre-outs. You can connect an amp directly to them.

If you do not have the BOSE system then you will need an amp that has high-level speaker inputs or you will have to purchase a line-out converter separately which converts speaker outputs to line-level rca.

wait..chuyler.. there is rca jacks in the back of the mazdaspeed 3 GT with Bose?

I think he's just referring to the fact that it's not an amplified signal coming out the back of the bose. You could splice an rca cable to those wires. I think on a similar thread it was decided that it would probably be easier to splice into that under the seat at the amp.

For non-bose, I spliced a LOC in the rear speaker wires under that big plastic piece that the seatbelt goes into on both sides. Also if you have non-bose I would recommend using a LOC because at first I tried to go directly to the high level input of my sony explode amp and it simply wasn't enough signal to push the sub even with the level all the way up on the amp.

Correct...there aren't any RCA jacks, but if you hook up a multimeter you'll see that there is a 2v signal going through them to the amp under the seat. The MS6 has the same setup and I tapped into the signal by removing the factory amp under the seat. No need to pull apart the dash. Just make sure you don't mix up pos and neg leads on the RCAs because things will sound pretty funky if you do.
