Strut mounts help

Hey guys, I got my car alligned a few days ago, and i noticed that the white dots on the strut mounts are aiming in weird derections, left strut mounts aiming to the bottom right, and right strut mount is aiming upper left. I noticed in every picture I have seen online that the left one was aiming to the upper left and the right one to the upper right.

I told this to the mechanic and he told me that its normal to move them around to help allign the vehicle, I think he is full of bulls*** and is just trying to save himself from having to do it all over again, please guys give me some feedback on what you guys think.

That's the only way to adjust camber, but it's not something usually done on a normal alignment though, as you have to disconnect the struts from the fender well (and probably the end-link at a minimum) to change them. Usually though they're mirrors of each other.

For example I just did struts on a buddy's wife's MSP this weekend and they were both pointed to the outside / rear of the car (ie the driver's side 1 was pointed to the driver's side & rear of the car).
