*STOLEN WHEELS* On The Lookout

Trying to steal the back is too risky, I would think. Lord knows, someone sees what is happening and calls the cops. Of course, if someone does want to risk it, I doubt anyone here will stop y'all!

i looked up "stolen wheel story, major let down" on google and this is what came up.

somewhat pathetic.

What's pathetic? The fact that the wheels were stolen or this thread.

Do clarify.

If you're looking for a good story, read Play Boy.

I think if the police were involved during an attempt to take the wheels back would help him out, because he could lay down the proof, the cops could talk to the detective, his story is legit, he did his own detective work at the beginning

I prefer penthouse forums for the stories

more crap...
First week of school, the guy showed up to pick up some hispanic girl. (same wheels/tires)
I took a picture, wrote down the serial numbers on the tires, they matched.
I told the detective.
The next day I spoke to the guy... "Hey man.. where'd you get those wheels? They'd look awesome on my Sentra."
He was nice.. and said "Kauffman Tire in Sandy Springs"
There is no Kauffman Tire in Sandy Springs.
He then pulled out a sheet of blank computer paper with the stickers/serial numbers from the wheels pasted on and said that that was his recipt. I rememebered the last 4 numbers and checked if they matched mine, they did.
I fowarded the info to the detective.
The detective then called the School Resource Officer(SRO) at my school to get her to check that the serial numbers match.
By the time she checked the serial numbers, he had new tires on the car.
So, all hopes are lost.

I'm pissed because the detective wasnt willing to drive straight to the guy's house and because the SRO wouldn't meet me where the guy picks up the girl.

On top of that, the guy's license plate won't go through the system so I can't follow up.

then you follow him one day and get his 10-4 then get the wheels back ninja style

that sucks man.. Sorry it happened... but you are screwed now because you can't even go vigilante style on him. Since you filed a report against him the police know that you suspect him of stealing your wheels.. So if you vandalize his s*** and he reports that to the police you would probably be the first person they come to talk to.

GO ******* STEAL YOUR WHEELS AND TIRES BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jesus H Christ! Pull a camando! Do it already! If I spent my hard earned money on wheels and tires, you can bet I'd have them back by now.

So the thief has changed the tires twice? In a 2 month period?? And he has a piece of paper with serial numbers on it???
I'm pretty green in this department but it sounds like he knows what he's doing. Maybe he has connections with a tire/wheel shop or a chop shop. Or maybe he's an experienced wheel thief. But if that was the case, I'd think he'd have different wheels by now. The serial# on the tire thing is news to me and I would assume that most people wouldn't know about it either.

I dunno...something sounds screwy...the way this guy seems to be one step ahead. (uhm)

You do have new wheels (right?), AND you got a check from insurance (right?)
I'd say learn from your experience and move on. If one of your buddies wants to vandalize his car, let them, but don't you be associated with it. And do NOT steal the wheels back! besides the fact that they are now trashed...the police have YOUR name on file associated with this case. For all you know YOU could be the one getting arrested for stealing wheels. (screwy)

$10 says he wont file a report when he doesn't have any real recipts for the wheels/tires.
But I do feel that he will come back to my house looking for the wheels though.

His "recipt" with the serial numbers was not a real recipt.. it was the actual serial number stickers(that were placed on the wheels by Kauffman Tire when I purchased them).
I do have new wheels, and yes I recieved a check from the insurance company.
I could care less what happens to the wheels, I just don't want the guy to feel like he's off scott-free.
The insurance company would most likely get to keep the stolen wheels in the end.
If anything else comes up, I'll post when I feel it's safe.

I've learned from my mistakes.
I won't buy generic lug nuts thinking they're safe just because they need a key. I won't park outside of my house.
I will always have a car with an alarm. I will always engrave my VIN into each set of wheels I get.

Anywhere but AutoZone, Advanced Auto Parts, or Kauffman Tires...

(eBay!)
Your best bet would be to any type of OEM lug lock set because the keys are harder to get..
Whatever you do... do NOT get the "tuner style" lugs... they're more common than a fat chick at McDonalds.

If they want the wheels/car, they will get it..
these things will only defer attempts to steal your stuff.
