I got with another msp owner here locally that was not flashed yet...and was looking to get flashed.
well did the swap with him and...unflashed IMO sucks ass(boom03) ...car is sluggish no where near as torquey as the flashed feels. now this is with the mods i have...boost takes longer to kick in..

well just wanted to share my thoughts(thumb)

Yup I've never regretted getting the flash...the car is so much more smoother. It makes a huge difference in overall driveability.

It's still pretty far from perfect, but at least it's a step in the right direction.

wrd...a temp free adjustment.

ha, yeah don't worry you'll get your ECU this week. I should be able to do it Wed after work. I'll give you a call.

oh yeah and flashed feels much better.

Dont swap with him. (no) Let him race with that ecu against the cars. he will lose. (rofl2)

My car never had serious hesitation i feel it drives fine unflashed. No one i know around here has a flashed ECU, and i dont think anyone will. Advanced timing on high boost is just a bad idea...

WAIT WAIT WAIT!
DS,you have been running a flashed ECU this whole time!
Damn it!
I didnt get the flash for fear of detonation at "STOCK" boost !
Hmmmm...too bad this isnt something I can try and then reverse,,,,,Oh wait..I can...NEED TO BORROW ECU FOR TRACK DAY!

I think all 03.5's were flashed at the dealer before sold correct?? My car feels fine..no hesitation and I've never got it flashed...

all MSP's sold after the flash was released were supposed to be flashed, but plenty of them werent.
Yeah, mine wasn't, and I bought it in January. I took it back to the dealership to get it flashed, and they said they did it, but it doesn't feel much different and there isn't a sticker in my engine compartment saying it was done...did I see somebody say you could tell by a dyno plot whether or not an MSP was flashed?

I was told today by mazda that they were informed to not do reflash that it wont make a difference in the car. so they wouldnt do it for me.

I was talking to ZMN. But actually they prolly lied to you too. I felt a night and day difference. And i've had hesitation maybe 3 or 4 times since last september since the flash. A/F gauge will bounce to lean for a sec and then jump back to rich when it bogs down for a sec....but thats only happened a couple times.

My 2003.5 wasn't flashed. Had to get it done 3 weeks ago. Haven't regretted it. Much smoother, much more torque, and no 4000 rpm kick in the ass. Just smooth acceleration. Haven't taken it on the dyno, but one of the tuners who works in the parts department at Mazda suggested that the flash probably adds about 8-10 hp and about 6 ft-lbs of torque. Don't have any data to back this up, but it certainly feels more powerful all around.

Since the flash, the car is much smoother and gets better fuel mileage. It is also easier to autocross as the power is more linear and predicable. Just my opinion of course.
