Stock MP3 1/4 Time

ok im just really starting to wonder if theres something wrong with my mp3 because i was told it should be down in the 16's stock. I ran a 17.1 @ 79 at the track, last night i ran my friends 95 accord lx and beat him by half a car and he says he runs 17.2 is there maybe something wrong? i've had people ride with me that say im good at driving it so they dont thnk thats the case, any feedback helps.


my mods are: twm short shifter, aem short ram, bosch plat +4 plugs, tb bypass

If you post the details from the time slip (especially 60' time, and trap speed) it would help a lot.

If this was your first time at the track don't worry about it. I'm supposed to get around a 14.9 with my MSP with Injen CAI and the first time only pulled a 15.8.

well it was first time on the 1/4 but that was back in august. and i dont have the time slip anymore. oh well guess i need to get to the track again, im running consistent 10.7 1/8th miles which i figure is pretty close to corrrect since my friends se-r spec-v runs a 10.0

Damm, sum-ting wong wit yo cah. Hehe, Well i don't know dude. Maybe you are taking off the line to slow. MP3's run (16.2-16.3) Stock. You should be nowhere in the 17's at all. That's freakin auto civic's territory. I hang with 99-00 SI's, most of them have I/E. All i have on my MP3 is Injen CAI, ACT street clutch, Indigo aluminum lightweight flywheel. On roll's "were even until his Vtec kick's in", then he just barely pulls a car on me. Don't know what to say, but just get your car checked just in case!!!!

According to car mags, mp3s run a 16.8 or so stock. i got mine down the 1320 in 16.5 stock. It's all in the launch.

i have the mazdaspeed protege clutch assembly, not sure if its any diff from the mp3 but thats what the mazda dealer put in it under warranty and its gonna be awhile before i have the $$ to get a good one. it ahs a miss so im gonna try changing the plugs and wires, see if that helps.

You have a good (Mazda dealer). When i went to take my car in to the dealer to see what was wrong. B/C the car wouldn't go into gear not 1st,2nd, or 5th. It would take off in 3rd, neutral, and 4th. Found out the Tranny went out along with the Clutch. They wouldn't replace it under warranty. They told me that i had to get my own Clutch and pay for the labor. "I told them this is bulls***", they accused me of (Power shifting) which is why the Clutch wen't out. I said Forget it. I ordered a new Clutch and Flywheel from SRmotorsports.com. They told me it was gonna be 100buck's to install it. I told the dealer go ahead" So they went ahead and installed everything. So went i got home from work i had a message on my cell-phone, "it said your car need's a new tranny, the gear synchros went out. All gear's worked except 5th gear. It wouldn't go in gear. So they told me i didn't have to pay for the tranny and labor since the A**holes didn't figure everything out the first time. But still, I'm $815-$820 short outta my pocket.(moon) Freakin A**Licker's.

17's is not that bad..but it's all about the driver...i know this..b/c i have raced msp's(runnin 9psi w/ cai & exhaust) and beat them..and most that run at 9psi..can get into the 14's easy..Well i went to the track and only ran 15.1 at 91.3mph!

It's all about the launch..don't worry about your 1/4 mile times...they will get better the more you go to the track!

Also..try lowering the psi in your tires..that helped me with the wheel hop & wheel spin!
