Stock intake after Mazda CAI install?

Hi all,

I'm a relative newb to the forum, with this being my first post. I'm a 2-week owner of my new "baby"...a Black Mica MS3 Sport. I'm picking up my car tomorrow after having the engine mount recall taken care off, as well as having a CAI put in. One question..what does the dealer do with the stock intake? Can I ask for it back without getting looks from the service department? It must be worth something to someone other than the dealer, or I could keep it in hand incase of trouble with the new CAI.

Cheers...

you should by all means are able to get it back as long as you request it. They don't have the right to keep it if you don't want them too

In the instructions for the CAI it actually says "return stock intake to customer".

ANY parts that are removed/replaced by any shop should be returned to you. They are YOUR parts after all, YOU paid for them...

Just curious... why would one want stock parts back after a dealer install? Perhaps the following?

1) to sell the stock parts. is there really a market for this?
2) to put the parts back on later to avoid warranty issues. not sure if this makes sense since the dealer installed the part in the first place.
3) to hang on your wall as decoration?

Not hating... just trying to figure out the logic since I've got some parts lying around and was just planning to throw them in the dumpster.

assuming there is room for storage you might as well keep. not that you would want to even think about this now, but when you sell maybe switch back to stock and sell seperate.

I kept the stock airbox in the event I want to go back. I kept the stock exhaust because I had a buyer for it prior to installation. I kept the stock wheels because trade in/resale is hampered by aftermarket wheels.
