My car wont' start right now due to the engine immobilizer. There was no keyfob that came with the car when I got it.

I go to the driver's side door lock to disarm the alarm.

When I went to go do it today, there was no response. I could only unlock the driver door but none of the other doors unlock. When I opened the driver's side door..the alarm went off. I unplugged the horn just because it was starting to annoy me.

I went under the dash and found the secuirty system. Unplugged it.

And now I'm here typing this. Car won't start. Immobilized. Can anyone help? I don't even know if a tow truck can fit into the underground parkade where the car's at right now.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks.

That's a workaround for sure. I want to get to the bottom of the problem.

Also..if I do use a fob..can I use any fob from a Protege? I have one kicking around here.

should work, they look identical. There is a how to on here somewhere.

Any protege fob will work; you just have to got threw the programming procedure. Key fob programming

For now, leave the battery disconnected for a while. When you hook it back up, lock and unlock the car with your key that *should* get you going.

It was a switch on the lock barrel that was causing my issue. Had to remove the door panel and replace it. JUst waiting on the part from Mazda. The old one is worn out.

loves to go nuts on me too sumtimes unless I hit unlock three or so times
the fob thing should work but perhaps try instead of un plugging the thing under the dash just turn the tiny nob on it all the way counter clockwise to 'off'
