sti coilovers on protege....

so, a ton of my buddies all rock racelands. they are cheap coilovers, and the ride quality is awesome. they dont make them for proteges, but they do for sti's. looking at pictures of sti struts/springs compared to ours, they look almost identical... the main difference i can see is that the strut mounts with 4 studs on ours, and 3 on the sti which would be easy to overcome. anyone have subarus that might be able to get measurements on the lengths and mounting hole locations? also, i am prepared for negative comments.

there arent really any cheap coilovers for our cars. theres springs and coil sleeves, but i dont want that lol.

good parts are not cheap and cheap parts are not good! i will live by that statement forever!! and teins are good but they dont make their best coilovers for the msp.. i prefer the k sport coilovers with inverted monotubes!!! thats what i will be running asap!! lol k sport version rr dampers are like $1800.

of all of the many people i know running racelands, none of them have any complaints. that is a good statement, but not always accurate.

well i have found it very true when trying to build anything that u want to last and have good performance... they may be good on the street but track use them every weekend and see how they hold up..

they do, at leas 2 of them. still no complaints. my ebay intercooler, works great, same with my blow off valve, tons of cast manifolds a lot of honda guys run, etc. etc....
a lot of parts, yes that is true, but just because it isnt expensive doesnt make it a bad product.

thats a good price, i mostly just want to see how possible it is. if its fairly simple, and cost effecient, it would be a good option for people

Tein super streets FTMFW!!!!

Its more hassle then its worth to try and manager those things in. Save up and buy good s*** made for the car. Then when people ask what suspension you have you dont have to tell them you cut, smashed and welded bad cheap sti suspension into it.

I'd rather ride on coilover sleeves or cut springs then do that.

I'm all about saving money and using stuff from other cars, but sometimes you just cant.

Lol wait you're telling me that people actually take the stock suspension out of a STI to put in racelands....

If i was in your shoes i'd email raceland and see if they ever made, or will make them for the msp.
Im all for racelands made for the protege.

yea thats what im gonna do. if they dont get back to me i will probably end up with some bcs. tired of driving a damn monster truck

if you just want to be lower buy some lowering springs like teins or some spools. they are cheap ride great and look good. i scored some spools that ill be rinding on for a verrryyyy long time until i can afford to drop a grand on some coils. just an idea.

yea i was gonna go that route... but i want to go lower than springs will allow and dont want to buy it all twice. i will probably just save for some BCs

No one asked for my two cents but here they are. I used to roll on K-sports and while the were good on the track, I didn't really like them on the street. They were a little too rough for everyday driving. I also felt that they required some maintenance in terms of making sure everything stays tight especially the collars the endlinks connected too. I was always afraid of stripping the allen heads so I felt I couldn't tighten them enough for fear of stripping out the heads.

I sold these off about a year after I bought them and went with the BC Suspension ones. I couldn't be happier. The are great for everyday driving and can really handle the local twisties when I stiffen them up. I think they're worth every penny but they might be a bit pricier for others.
