stereo problem threw me for a loop

Hey, i own a '94 pgt. When i first bought it i looked completely over it, and on the fuse for the stereo, i noticed a piece of what looked like copper, bent around one of the pieces of the fuse, my stereo worked fine, and i didnt think anything of it and just left it. A couple days ago while cleaning my car from top to bottom i opened up the fuse box to give it a clean, and saw that piece of copper and removed it, i then tossed it behind me into some grass and cant find it(bang), and of course, now my stereo doesnt even turn on, but all other electronics work. Any help for what the problem might be?

It could have been a fuse tap. These wrap around one of the blades of the fuse and give you a location to get power. Only problem is they usually stetch out the female connector, when you remove the tap there is no contact on that side and you now have no radio.
