steering noise?

my car is at 55k miles now, and just lately, i noticed my car started to make kind of a grinding noise when i turn my steering wheel towards the left. it sounds as if the brake is grinding, but i am not applying the brake. i'm just using that sound as an example. it doesn't make the noise when i turn right though. is it alignment or something?

might be the cv joint , which might be the axle and might mean you need new axle..

check your brake pads too. i had that sound 2 days ago, looked a the pad it was down to the metal, if i waited any longer the rotors woulda been scortched.

so what would be a rough estimate if something was wrong with the axle? and can it really be the brake pad, it seems to only make the noise when i steer left. not when im going straight or towards the right. can it be suspension/shocks/springs? but its not extra bumpy or makes a sound when i hit a bump. one side is not lower than the other or anything.

omg then i hope it really isn't that, so what is the cause? jus eventually the axle wears out? plus how seirous is it? how long do i have until it is needed to be fixed? asap?
