SSAFC vs. Meth. Injection??

thanks everyone for the helpful info. ended up calling split second and getting the cheaper of the two, its my dd so i dont wanna go to crazy, not to mention i dont really have plans for 10+psi....now the hardest part is waiting for it to arrive in the mail haha.

I've actually seen people get better results with the first gen SSAFC over the SSFTC. Had a guy here locally get the SSFTC, car ran like s***. Switched to a used older model SSAFC, car ran out like a champ.

My favorite set-up per dollar on this car is; FMIC, Exh, Intake, MBC, and SSAFC. Great parts combo that makes good, useable power, safely, on 9psi for relatively cheap.

i didnt see much of a point of the timing retarder anyway if im not going much over 9-10 psi, but from what i have read, i cant wait to see how much the fuel controller will make it shitn'git

Just get the AFC, no need to mess with timing at this level. If you are at that point it is time for a standalone.

You absolutely must have a wideband and IMHO you must have an OBDII scanner. I have a tiny bluetooth device I ordered from China I plug in under my steering wheel that you can't even see, and then paid the $5 for the Pro version of Torque on my android phone. Works well enough, and a lot easier than breaking out the laptop.

The scanner will let you see your fuel status and trims so you know when the PCM screws up your tune, which is 99% of the problems on that 100+ page SSAFC thread.

Putting meth on the car without pulling the fuel will make the car bog badly. I have to take 5-10% off my tune with my ssafc when I run my meth setup. Meth is an unmetered fuel. The ecu doesn't know whats going on, and cant compensate for it. Basically, get the ssafc, then get meth injection. Both are awesome mods. The meth will make your tune safer. If your afc is 12:1, and you spray meth/water 50/50, it will drop below 10:1 and you car will bog. Also, the ssafc is easy to tune, but dont use it unless you have a wideband. The connecting rods in our motors are like toothpicks, and the pistons like butter. Going lean will send bits of your motor all over the road. I have put 5 engines in my car in the last year. I know what works and what doesn't.

You are talking about spraying a 50/50 mix. Why? No one said anything about spraying water into the motor. When you spray higher levels of straight methanol the A/Fs become leaner, not richer.

How are the pistons like butter? Have you seen a motor fail due to piston failure? I think you may be confused, and are attributing this quality to the piston due to the inherent weakness of the stock rods, but the two are unrelated, and to say different is ignorant.

I'm sorry, but I would not take advice from someone who blew 5 motors in a year. Actually, if someone blew 5 motors in the last year they would be the last person I would take advice from.
