If this is a repost...sorry but check this out

althought they hate the car..check the dyno and yet they still can't drive the car as fast as the ms3 which makes no sense...man i can't wait for someone to actually drive this to it's potential. And the statement that most will never take it to the track is completely wrong...how many neon srt's have never seen track time....very very few!

fixed it thanks!

what are the tire specs for the srt4? that could be what's holding it back from MS3 speeds...that and how the car itself manages its ability to put THAT much power down on the front wheels!

It's been posted already in the other SRT-4 thread. It had F1's on it for tires, and they pretty much trashed it and said the MS3 was a better car.

I can't seem to find the edit button, but I wanted to add this from the article since it is relevant to the question of why it tested slower than the MS3:

Launches were hampered by the "bog or boil" effect, where the engine either falls on its face or the tires spin uncontrollably. This is likely a drawback of the inertial effects of heavy wheels and tires.

After reading that article, I am really REALLY glad I decided to go with the MS3 instead of waiting for this thing.

Power curve is awesome if that's an accurate dyno (call me a skeptic after Automobile mag put down 212 or 216 whp on an MS3)... but they definately are having problems driving the car it should be MUCH faster than that if it has that much power. That's now two mags that are having a hard time getting good times with this car (C&D claimed 14.4 at 103, now edmunds with 14.6 at 100).

Also, why am I not surprised that they found the built in performance meter (read: Gtech) is reading much faster than they measured themselves?

Overall I'm still not impressed though that power curve is awesome (nearly flat torque frmo 3000 to 6000 rpm!!!), and yeah that's 2 for 2 as far as reviewers not being overall impressed and leaving the MS3 sounding like the better car.

I've always said that the Caliber had to be considerably cheaper than the MS or that it wouldn't be worth it. Sit in the Caliber and the 3 and tell me you would consider paying the same for them both? I know I wouldn't

you guys have to remember that power isnt everything when it comes to how fast a car is...

Weight, gearing of the transmission, and suspension all come to play.
I know that the weights of the two cars are pretty similar, but everything else isnt necessarily.

I was never worried that this car would give me buyers remorse. The only car that could do that is the upcoming Ralliart Lancer. While there are no specs on it yet, it is rumored to be an AWD turbo and compete with the standard WRX. Since the just announced Evo RS (the stripped down Evo) starts at 26K, I think the Ralliart might come in right around the MS3 GT's price. If that is the case, and the specs are good, MS3s won't look like such a bargain anymore. But, I'm getting ahead of myself...there is still no info on what this car will actually be.

i'm just happy that i can't think of a sport hatch coming up that would make me think twice. quite honestly, i just find the utility of our cars REALLY nice. we can haul ass, yet also furniture when need be...oO

I might be in the minority here, but I think it actually looks (I mean, the physical appearance) pretty cool! I'm not very interested in the car so I haven't read the reviews, but on looks alone I wouldn't say it's far behind. I've only seen the red on though.

Did you ever believe a Gtech was at all accurate? They arent accurate, but they help measure increases in mods if you use it as a starting point. To bad about its performance times, its just a matter of time before those things start screaming with the aftermarket support.
