Squeal bar in front brakes?

Looks like the CX-9 brakes have a squeal bar when the pads become dangerously low? Has anyone ever triggered it?

My front brakes are due for replacement. I ordered new parts but not sure I'll have time to put them on before a trip I have coming up next weekend (about 1200 miles, mostly highway driving, so not a lot of stop/go).

I've done pads/rotors on other cars (mostly BMWs), but haven't touched the CX-9. Maybe I'll just throw the new pads on the front and do the rotors when I return.

Anyone have any recommendation how much pad thickness left will last? My preference would be to do both at the same time when I return.

If they just triggered you should be fine to go for one trip I would think. There's likely still a few mm of pad left even now but you should check that to be sure. It would be much better to do the pads and rotors at the same time so they bed in properly to avoid squealing.

Thanks -- it has not triggered yet. I plan to check the pad thickness, but I know they are pretty low.
